Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
As per poll.
Troy sleeps in a crate in my room, but is becoming a pain as I never get any sleep these days.
GF doesn't think he should be in the room. I wouldn't mind, except for him moaning and getting me up all of the time.

I would luv to hav Mia in our room with us but she's too much of a fidget and I don't think she'd sleep I think she would just lick us both to death!!
Plus I'm worried about her falling off the bed/ falling down the stairs etc, maybe when she is bigger we'll have her in bed!

When you let Violet sleep in with you, she manipulates you with licks and claw stabs until you move so that she is perfectly comfortable, lying diagonally, with her head on the pillow, whilst I lie crumpled up, with minimal covers and a dogs bum in my face. Mostly, she sleeps in her crate!

Re: Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
LOL
Troy has a crate in my room which he will go into with me having to tell him and will settle down to sleep.
It stops him from fidgetting, getting up, roaming, jumping on the bed etc. Maybe some of you guys having problems could try getting a crate?
My only issue is on a weekend really. I get up at 5:15am on a weekday to walk him before work, so I am getting up before him anyway..no problem (unless he snores which is another issue).
However, he wakes up at 6:30am or so on a weekend so I never, ever get much sleep. I wish he would just sleep till 8 or something LOL. 6:30am is a lie in for me now
He will just moan constantly until I open the crate door. He will try and walk out but I tell him bed and he will usually settle for another 30 minutes or so if I am lucky. Opening the crate door shuts him up for a little while for some reason.

Skye sleeps in the kids room and buster sleeps in our room both on beds and when the kids have friends round both sleep in our room

Skye will lay in as long as poss and buster wakes me at 6 am for a wee and breakfast then if I'm not working back to bed and he will sleep till I get him up

I would be cautious of getting Troy up for food but then going back to bed without a toilet break, as he may be needing to go with it also being overnight?

No, I Don't think its fair as she cant sleep in my bed when she in in season or when I'm busy with my lady time - it's not hygienic.
She has got in a couple of times and I've woken up with her curled up behind my knees.
Se is better behaved having her own space and not sharing the 'king of the house' place too.

I know the feeling. His snoring and licking his paws wakes me as you mentioned. He would moan his head off if I tried to make him sleep downstairs now though

No, he's good about letting us sleep. Mainly because he also likes to sleep in late, as well!Gee wrote:CatStina wrote:Saxon sleeps in a crate in my room.

Dam, I wish Troy would sleep in late.
Depending on how he is laid down, he can do some almighty snores! Woke me up last night
Sounds like his air ways partially blocked when in a particular position? Sort of like that snorting sound they could do on check chains.

Maska sleeps in the room with us. He is actually very good - he will go to sleep on his own bed and stay there most of the night. Its getting to winter now, and here by 4am he seems to either be cold or in need of a cuddle, so he jumps onto the bed.

Re: Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
The first night home with Bailey (he was a rescue-10 months old) we were given a crate and he cryed the whole night. So next night we let him in with us and has been ever since. He was very excited for a few nights, jumping about but we kept the lights low, spoke in calm quite voices and now he is much better. He only gets upstairs to go to bed, and he now whines when he wants his bed ( he has a downstairs beanbag that he naps on during the day) Best thing we did-apart from getting him, although the smells are twice as bad now that I have 2 men in my bed????-thats my partner and Bailey

Re: Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
Nope. He's not allowed on the furniture (he's already put a couple of sneaky bitemarks in the couch ), so we don't let him upstairs, since there'd be no point. His cage is in the living room. Not to mention even if he was good enough to sleep in my room, I'd never get any sleep because whenever he sees me he either wants food or playtime.

Very occassionally as a special treat. Betsy looks at me in disbelief when I invite her in- as if she's thinking Really!!!!
We both love our sleep so fortunately she settles really well. She's a great spooner but the special treat is when I lift the quilt up and head first she sleeps by my legs. Betsy loves to snuggle altho unfortunately I then get the bum view of her- mmmmm. Just as well I love her so

Re: Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
No - not after my little schipperke attacked my partners ankles when was climbing into bed one night! I can't blame Coal though - it was the middle of the night (Arthur was working night shifts) and he had only just moved in with me about a week before. After that incident the dogs were banned from the bedroom.
About a year later I got my staffy Henry - but to be honest he snores terribily so I don't think I'd wont him in the bedroom anyway!

Re: Do you let you dog sleep in your room?
I replied on my bed - however they have beds either side of there own but both about 4am get up on our bed and snuggle up for a few hours haha, I think during the night its too hot and they like there own space we have never encouraged them up or told them NO if they tried, they seem to have made the rules themselves, Paddy is first up and think that wakes Ruby the other side and up she gets, Ruby gets inbetween us Paddy remains by our feet.

Bandit won't sleep anywhere but under the covers up against either me or my husband's legs or back. Has done since he was a pup. Usually sleeps right thru until one of us gets up, even though he is nine now. Have to admit there have been a couple of times recently where he has needed to step outside and gotten us up but luckily, so far, it's only been nights when we've gone to bed early.
