Puppy urinates on his bed
I have a 3 month old male and for some reason he keeps urinating on his bed we got for him. When we first got it he never did that, he would actually go lay on it and sleep but now for some reason he urinates on it even after just coming from outside. Can anyone help me out on how to get him to stop?

Re: Puppy urinates on his bed
We take him outside every hour or 2 for about 30 mins or so and then we also take him to the dog park.
Re: Puppy urinates on his bed
My Pippa used to do this until I trained her to go on newspaper in the laundry (if she couldn't make it outside or we didn't notice she needed to go). Would have been around the same age and she is now nearlly 5 months. Could be other reasons I'm sure, now she doesn't pee on it, just tosses her bed around lol (working on that atm)

I wouldn't bother with the commercial odour removers. Most of them don't actually work! Use a biological washing liquid & make sure you rinse thoroughly. That will remove the scent of any pee on the bedding.
Your pup is still very young & may not yet have full control over his bladder. It can take some pups up to 6 months to become fully house trained! Having said that, it does sound as though he's scent marking - that's why I asked about the cleaning. If he can still smell urine on the bedding (even if you can't) he'll be more inclined to pee there again.

I would try a different cleaner as well because there may be a left over smell

Thank you all for your advice. Do you have a website with an odor remover or a brand that works best?
Re: Puppy urinates on his bed
Any biological washing liquid/detergent will do the trick, even the real cheap ones! I used to see what was on special offer!

Re: Puppy urinates on his bed
my puppy is about 4 months now and he cocks his leg against the crate so pee ends up all over the floor..outside the cage, I have only ever had 2 female staffies and did not know if this was a male staff trait or just him?? I end up putting pads outside the cage on the floor so he at least hit them.

I'd say that you're not removing all traces of urine from the crate. You'll need to completely wash every bar seperately with a solution of biological washing liquid. It isn't necessarily a male trait.

Re: Puppy urinates on his bed
yes you are probably right, I will get my rubber gloves on and give a really good clean and see if that helps, to fair on him he has been dry through the night for the past week now, I think he has had one accident so bless him he is doing really well.
