Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
How is she with it? Is she licking etc? I've never had to use one on my girls they left it alone.
Where does she sleep, could she be in with you so you are aware of movement. Lift her upstairs and she should be groggy enough to sleep right through. Xx

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
the title is a little confusing do mean spay shield? if so may be sleep with you for a couple of nights to settle her down and any chewing restlessness will probably wake you and save on later vet bills if she chews through her stitches
sorry this could be the correct term, but i've always had male dogs and never neutered

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Yes its the shield haha
She hasnt licked it yet - but she started to lick the blood off her legs around it & think that she would soon be trying to have a clean around that area.
Shes normally sleeps in the hall way with out bedroom door closed but I think your right about having her in with us - Just she wont stay on her bed & I dont want her to get in the habit to think its ok to be in with us.. Ahhh man shes such a duvet hogger too! lol

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Lol, she may suprise you and leave it alone, the bed habit is one possibly not to get into, mine isn't a duvet hogger but a bed hogger lol!
If she won't where it, although they usually settle if you don't back down just be extra cautious with her tomorrow Xx

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
lol, you could bring her bed in to your room if you have enough space to put her next to the bed?

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Im gonna try her bed next to mine with the spare duvet (ill buy another for guests) to make her bed extra comfy & will be persistant & consistant.
& yes - I dont want this to become a habit lol
On a sunday morning lay in we sometimes call her in & up on the bed where she plonks herself right inbetween us lol she even snores with her eyes open to make out shes asleep when you move cause she thinks we'll tell her down
I hope shes not fussed about it & leaves it be... will keep you updated xx Thank you!!

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Lexi was too drugged up and tired after that she never even bothered with it. She was also a little pudgy and i don't actually think she could have reached it without seriously hurting herself lol
Try her without it for a time and maybe just have it on when shes alone?

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
What about a inflatable doughnut collar? Much less bothersome for them. Hopefully you won't need it though.

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
@ Ben Monte doesn't look very impressed to be wearing that at all.
@ Kylie , you also need to be very careful not to have her on the bed as she could do herself an injury just by jumping up and down. Hope all goes well for you
As Hayley pointed out Tilly was in no way flexible enough to get down ther so no collar for her

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Thats an awesome Idea - Im gonna try get my hands on one of those today!!
Last night I learnt what it feels like to be a mum of a baby - Did not sleep a wink. not because she was noisy she just stayed in her bed beside ours all night but the slightest lick I was awake- Spent most the night licking her paw but had me worried.
She came on on the bed with me this morning but my OH picked her up & when I got her down I scooped her in the duvet.
Had her first pain killer today so hopefully they kick in soon poor thing

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Poor Lola it's horrible seeing them like that, hope she is feeling better soon. Millie didn't even bother about her collar, she was so woozy and down for a couple of days she barely moved. completely destroyed it after about a week though
The inflatable collar is a great idea, it looks so much more comfortable for them.

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
Just an idea, if you cannot get the donut collar, would you be able to try using something like this on her rather than the lampshade collar. They are available from most chemists just get the largest size they have:

Re: Lolas Spyed Shade
you should be able to get the foam collar from a large Boots store or a good chemist, just ask at the counter for a support collar they will know what you are on about.
