Milly his so frightened of the harness.Whenever she has to have it on she cowers down ,We havent a clue why and when she is on it she walks with her tail between her legs.My oh doesnt like to walk her on it because she looks like a dog that is beaten.Has anyone on the forum got a dog with the same problem. We have to take her to vets later today on it she isnt going to very happy

Re: Harness
I wonder if you could distract her when you put it on her with a tasty treat and build it up that way while she has it on..if that makes sense.
Silly question I know, but is it comfortable and not rubbing her anywhere..I remember seeing a dog with a harness on and it was rubbing the poor thing raw!

good point! I remember seeing a dog on a tv show and the owners tried walking it with a chain collar and the dog would go bonkers... they tried a leather collar and the dog just started walking normally!

Re: Harness
The harness fits her snug.My oh thinks it could be that he walks her on the fields without it on so when it comes to having to walk her on it she isnt keen

Re: Harness
The harness would probably be put on going over the head this is something that dogs dont like anyway. As Vanessa says try coaxing with some treats this worked wonders for Rocky as he had the same issue.

Re: Harness
Mia runs away when she sees us pick up her harness, she cowers down when putting it on but then once she's out walking she's normal again and when we get back from walking she would happily go back to bed in it and sleep!
I used to have a sporn non pull harness, but I though it could be that it wasn't padded enough so might be hurting her
Now I have a dog games harness which is super comfy really padded- still have the same issue though whenever I pick it up to put on her, I guess she just doesn't like it going over her head!

Re: Harness
Suki still tries to bite hers when we put it on. We show her a treat and have her sit and don't have any problems
