Starting at agility
Well weather permitting we start agility on the 2nd April
The club I went through obedience with will only run 8-10 week courses at £68-£80 and they don't do 'taster' sessions to see if the dog will even try it so I went on a bit of a hunt and found a dog display team which are close to where I work (and where Ledger stays with my parents while I am working), they do agility purely for fun and at just £3 a session.
My dad has always done agility with his dogs and I am hoping that it will be something that Ledger will love and find a bit of a challenge in

It is good fun. Madge excels except that when she gets bored she hides in the tunnel. She doesn't seem to have the same level of concentration (or is it fixation?) that the border collies have. Not sure if this is the same with all Staffs, perhaps others will comment. But she definitely likes it and benefits from mixing with the others too.

Re: Starting at agility
wow don't forget your camera!
Winston has had a muck around on agility courses and he loves it. ... he races through the tunnel and leaps over the hurdles and climbs the ramps and dives off...what a bloomin show off !!

Cassie is coming on great guns! She loves the jumps and has now mastered the walk over trellis. Tunnels were scary to start off with but are now a breeze! The A frame is the next thing but she's not so kean on that.

Re: Starting at agility
Yeah just back it was great we had a couple of trie on the course just the jumps and tyres tho Ledger kept wanting to go through the tunnel.
I'm very impressed as it has been the only time he has really been off lead and even with all the distractions his recall was good
The group I trained with are a dog display team so we also joined the group for the obedience heel work and again I was lost not knowing the routine but Ledger held his own overall it was alot of new things for him to take in and he lost concentration at times and got a bit stressed at others but he was quieter and calmer than some of the regulars and we will be going back the week after next

Hey sounds like he did OK, I'm sure it will all come together for you, glad to hear the recall was good, that is a bit of a hill to climb. I think you will be grately rewarded. Well done
