Bladder question
Lottie is a healthy happy dog who loves to give and get cuddles and kisses. You have seen her at play with Lemmy and I don't think they could be ay happier so why did she pee the bed. The first couple of months I found her bed wet about 3 times. I put it down to settling in maybe bad dreams or was a bit afraid to ask to go out or something so ignored it. That was about 2 months ago the last time that happened. Last night Pete was sat in the kitchen and he saw her get up half out of the bed look at him then start to pee so he got up told her no and opened the door and let her out. She was silent when she first came to us but has now started making all kinds of noises and does ask to go out now she has even started to cry to get your attention so why pee the bed like that. I put the others down to accidents cos we hadnt seen her do it but it seems she is doing it on purpose. I could understand the first couple of months but not now. WHY!!!!!!!!!!

Re: Bladder question
I dont know if this is a girlie dog thing or not as when I was a kid I had a lady dog and she would occasionally wee indoors when she was young. It didn't happen however when she was older.
We now Rocky our lovely lad and he has only ever wee'd indoors once after he had been with us a few days, he has never done anything else inside.
It may be a sign of nervousness.
Mention it to your vet they may know whats going on???

Re: Bladder question
Maybe she just couldn't hold it in and didn't want to wake you up?
Try not giving her any water about three hours before bed-give her a couple of ice cubes instead.
It could be anxiety or she could just have a weak bladder. Is she spayed? Spaying a lady dog can sometimes lead to a weak bladder.
If she's still wetting the bed then I suggest asking your vet to do a quick check. Does she ever wet in the house when left by herself?
Do you recognise the signs when she needs a wee and could possibly have missed them?
Romeo never whines to be let out. If he's desperate he'll just come and stand and look at me. He almost never askes to be let out for a wee, only if hes bursting for a poo. Of course I let him out to wee but he never askes.

Re: Bladder question
its not on amornign she was in the kitchen with pete looking at her and she never asked moved or anything. she just stould up and weed. we havent missed any signals or anything. pete was sat having his tea and he happened to glance at her when she stould up and he saw her and then got up and let her out. they ahd been out playing all day and hadnt been in long so its not like she had been in for hours and was desperate they only came in for their tea and she laid down for a while then got up and weed

Re: Bladder question
It sounds like it sometimes catches her unawares. Maybe she doesn't have full control of her bladder. I'd ask the vet to give her a once over to make sure there's no urinary tract infection.

Re: Bladder question
It could be that she has slight urinary incontinence. She would have been around 15/17 months or so when she was spayed, and that should have been old enough, but it depends how many seasons she had before then.
It could just be a behavioural thing, though. Maybe she's waking up and just wanting to go, so she does it there and then. Maybe try going right back to basics for a while? See if it helps.

Re: Bladder question
Of its not medical:
Could it be that they had been out having loads of fun, then all of a sudden they're back indoors and no more fun for her because Pete was sat reading the paper, all the attention suddenly stopped so she wanted to remind him that she was still there?
Sort of like an attention seeking thing or because she knew she would get to go back outside for fun?

this to me would make more sense cos she is a dram a queen at times and an attention seeker. we will just keep a watch on her and if it happens again then a trip to the vet for naother check up
