Red staffy alllll day.
hello, Im new to this forum and was just writing to say hello and ask a few pointers about somethings for my one year old beaut of a red staffy.
My pup seems to love sticks very much, she only chases and fetches sticks at the park but never tennis balls (which she goes mental for in my house). She's so obsessed with sticks that she will stand under a low branch of a tree and will bark and wine at it as if I can pull it off and play fetch with her. I don't mind that she loves sticks but the obsession has its limits (barking at trees) can someone explain this and what are some measures to help her from being so obsessive about sticks?

Re: Red staffy alllll day.
WELCOME I dont know if this is much help but Titan has his own stick which he collects and takes to the park with him every day. I dont let him take it in the house ofcourse, i keep it outside my front door and he collects it each time we go out and carrys it back home and leaves it at the door for his next walk So you could maybe try this and see if it stops his obsession to bark at tress Its only an idea, some1 else will probs have a better suggestion

Re: Red staffy alllll day.
I bought one of these for my boy......
http://www.amazon.co.uk/Safestix-Original-Rubber-Dog-Toy/dp/B004FPPWOA/ref=pd_sim_petsupplies_1
He tends to shred ordinary sticks (the bigger the better!) & gets splinters down his throat, so these are much better, and really strong.

Hi & welcome to the forum
I do the same as Kym and sometimes I forget to take it with me so I have to get a new one when where out. Thats why I have about 6 sticks outside my front door
I also have a smaller version of what caryll has and they are a great idea as they are allot safer than sticks due to no chance of pieces getting stuck in their throat

Re: Red staffy alllll day.
I wish I had some advice, I have to say I laughed at the "barking at trees."
I think I'm going to try a Safestix too, thanks Caryll.

Hi and welcome from me, Maska and Loki
My dogs also love stick, hence the fact that I no longer have a nice garden. If I wont give it to them, they just get destructive and get it themselves.

Re: Red staffy alllll day.
Thanks all for the suggestions, my dog Nala just goes to the park and hunts down a stick every time to play with. I might try and make her play with one stick and bring it home and get her to take it with her next time to the park as suggested! Cheers!

Hello and welcome to the forum
I do the same as Kym, let the pooch bring a stick back and leave it at the front door and pick it up again on our way out.
Looking forward to the piks!

Hello and welcome both.. Molly and I think most staffies are stick obsessives lol .. I wouldn't worry too much about it. Although once Molly gets a stick that is the end of her exercise till she has munched it to sawdust..
