Am I OK to add a dog that's ready for rehoming? I'm not technically a charity but I do rescue dogs from the pond (ha ha, pound) and get them fit for rehome.... I always assess properly, neuter, worm, flea, chip and vaccinate.
Just wondering....alternatively I could add a link to another site he is on?

Are you an official rescue or do you just do this yourself? We can't allow people who are not official rescues as that leaves it open to anyone who wishes to rehome a dog.

I am a 'rescuer' and Canine Behaviour Practitioner/owner trainer but I have not officially registered as a rescue because I would rather help other rescues that are already established. I do however occasionally take dogs (often that I meet through my work and training) that can not be taken into an established rescue due to behavioural issues or due to time constraints. These dogs are often difficult to place in foster with other dogs/people or inexperienced handlers.
Honestly don't worry about it, this always causes problems every time I need to find a good home, I just thought I'd ask. I do have some exposure through Bob Whitall's SBT site and I have an account with ineedahome.com plus I know that Kathy at West Yorkshire Dog Rescue will stick him on her site if I ask her to. It's a constant problem for me to get the dogs 'out there' and seen due to the fact that I'm not registered. To be honest I often think I should just call myself a rescue and have done LOL

but if anything goes wrong and someone get bite and the police or whoever ask for your information i wont have any choice but to give them it...

Please don't worry on that score, I always always have the dogs contracted to be returned to myself so my contact information will be with the new owner forever, I offer behaviour support long term if needed and I don't rehome dangerous dogs. If they cannot be rehabilitated completely - for whatever reason - then I look for rescue back up and a suitable permanent placement that is well able to manage any issues, otherwise they remain here with me.

I am involved with a dog group (I don't know if it is actually a charity). We work with South Gloucestershire Council who take in strays (and a never-ending supply of dumped dogs). The dogs are sometimes moved on to rehoming charities or sometimes rehomed straight from here. Every week there are Staffies and staffy crosses coming in. Would I be allowed to post some of the dogs on here?

Sorry the rescue would have to list it unless you were a registered rescue

I volunteer for the RSPCA Danaher Home in Essex, that is on your list. I have their blessing to post on rescue forums - may I post on here? I would link to each dog's entry on the Danaher website.

And if that's ok, a lot of our dogs are listed as 'bull breeds' because it's hard to be certain, although I'd say they're staffie or staffie x. Would you be happy with them being listed?

Terry, I'm sorry to read your post but I guess you have very good reasons. We cannot facilitate the rehoming on the forum due to many reasons, however here is a link to a list that may be of help to you:-

as I mentioned my reasons in case you we're wondering are this; I started a new job in October last year and there was a massive decline in the time I got to spend with him. I was and still am doing all the hours put on me and we have just had a new baby which it makes even harder for me to spend time with him. it's kind of breaking my heart everytime I look at him, he deserves a better life than the one I'm giving him so I really need to find him a loving (but very energetic lol) family. thanks again for the links and kind words

Hey guys, this will be my last post on here as I've successfully found a lovely woman who has taken dixie on, she has kindly added me on Facebook and kept in touch with me with pics and stories of how Dixie is getting on. he has only been gone since Sunday but he has already settled in with his new family and home. Thanks everyone who took the time to read or reply to my post ☺
