Can they tell time?

Can they tell time?
I know dogs like being in a routine. Every day around feeding time Suki will stand near her food basket and try to get our attention. she completley ignores it until it's time for her to eat. It's almost as if she has an internal alarm.

They must do - every day without fail, violet gets up at 10am and sends herself to bed at 10pm on the dot. Then once she's up and about there's the 1 o'clock peepee, the 5 o'clock peepee and the 9 o'clock peepee. Even if you take her out at 8 o'clock, she'll still be standing at the door at 9 o'clock! Everyone laughs because she stands to go and I go 'oh it must be 9' and it always is. You could set your watch by her!

That's so early! Violet is the laziest dog in the world - she wakes up at 10, and I can hear her moving about, so I know she's awake, but when I go to get her, she pretends she's sleeping again so she can stay in bed - she always gives it away by opening her eyes to check if I'm still there

Re: Can they tell time?
If I try to sleep past 600 she will nip my nose and bark at me unless the better half has taken her out of the room and closed the door

I think lexis one is more of if its light or dark. Anytime you go to her pen in the day time she will run to her food bowl even if shes just been fed, then at night when you go to her pen she runs out and runs to the back door and won't settle until you go in the back door and get her her treat!

Yes they definately know the time precisely and they know exactly what you say too without a doubt.

Re: Can they tell time?
I think they are aware of routine but maybe not time as we percieve it. Tyson seems to know which days I am going to work and he knows when it is Saturday. When I come home in the afternoon he will quietly be with me until it is time for our walk and then he starts pacing. I think it may be that they pick up on our vibes. Thank goodness he will sleep in on the days I do.
