Newbie
Hello my name is Katie have a Staffordshire bull terrier called bailey he's around 7 years old i rescued him from deerness kennels in county Durham he was over weight when I got him he has now slimmed down i am having problems with him he is due to go to the vets tomorrow because now he's lost weight the weight wont stop dropping i feed him twice a day on WAGG but he wont eat it on a morning only at night i leave the food down all day but he wont touch it so I put fresh down at night then he eats that. He's drinking a lot of water which we have noticed. i wormed him last month to see if it was worms but he still looks like he's getting thinner? Concerned about him any suggestions any one? Thank you for your help x

Re: Newbie
Hi, welcome to the forum.
Sorry you're having problems (Bailey looks gorgeous by the way). Is his poo normal, or is it soft & pale? It could be that he's suffering from a pancreatic insufficiency. Or maybe diabetes - is he very tired, for example?
You're doing exactly the right thing taking him to the vets as they can do blood tests to determine the cause. If he's ok in himself, though, I wouldn't worry too much.
Both the above problems can be treated, as can so many ailments that make a dog lose weight, so keep positive & see what the vet says.

Re: Newbie
Thanks for your quick reply. his poo is normal he has had a couple of episodes of diarrhoea. He sleeps quite alot also he's not as active as he was when we got him. He always seems to look depressed and sad? He has a skin tag on his belly which is very pale and cold the vet said it was nothing and they would only take it off if he ever needed surgery he's had that since we got him. Deerness kennels is great! Nope not all the running about in the park lol i thought he was starting to put weight on a little bit but he's still losing it i'm just worried about him it could be nothing the vet might give me a better diet for him or something hopefully they will do blood tests thanks for the replys x

Re: Newbie
He does look a bit thin, and his muscle tone isn't great, but I didn't see him before.
Best let the vet see & make a judgement. Let us know how you get on.

Thanks for the reply lisa. but as shane said bailey passed away yesterday they found he had cancer of the liver so i had to make the hard choice of putting him to sleep. it was best for him to not cause any suffering he is going to be missed very much had to go to work to day everyone was asking about him i ended up bursting into tears. no dog will ever replace him just glad he spent his last year with me and my OH thanks everyone for the comments and support. At least hes back to full health now and jumping about like he use to x
R.I.P bailey gone but never forgotten x love you x
