Peeved to say the least
Lottie as you all know by now has come along nicely over the last 4 months and she is even calm enough now to go into the training classes with other people and dogs. We are so pleased and proud of her.
because she hasnt really had any formal training but knows the basics the trainer said she would be better in the Juniour Foundation class and move up with the younger dogs rather than dogs her own age who are more advanced in their training plus the puppies would have a better vibe about them for her to pick up on.
Seems though that the other doggy owners in the class dont agree with that and some of them rang the traing centre the day after class and asked why that big dog was in their class. The centre explained about Lottie and they are not happy so asked could she be removed from the class or they will not come backand want a refund.
The trainer rang round other class members of another Juniour Foundation class and asked how they would feel if Lottie joined them and they have been lovely and said it is ok. The trainer explained about her and how big she is but they still say OK so she starts her new class on 3rd March. If this doesnt go down ok when we arrive and they change their mind I dont know what we are going to do cos the only other classes are the bigger older dogs or the growlers which I am not having her in a class with the growlers and picking up on their vibes but the bigger older dogs might over whelm her cos she's only used to Lemmy really. It's a shame cos she did really well and no one looked at her funny on the night. I know the training classes are more for the socialiation cos she does her training at home with Lemmy anyway but she behaves like a puppy at times at has such a good out look on her little wrld at the moment I dont want an older dog or one her own age putting a dampner on it. Some people are horrible and mean.

How small minded can you get?
Let's hope the other class is a bit more clued up!

their cowardice is equaly frustrating IMO. the people who complained didn't even have the guts to say it to your face

Re: Peeved to say the least
i said that to the trainer. if they had asked at the time we could have all sat and talked about it at the time but to wait untill the day after and if a few of them had rang did they discuss it after class when we had goneHerman's Human wrote:their cowardice is equaly frustrating IMO. the people who complained didn't even have the guts to say it to your face

some people just like to try and stir things up just for they're own sick sense of pleasure, could just be one owner who has no idea about anything just trying to cause problems and trying to get some friends to jump on they're bandwagon, well stuff them as you say she's getting on well, so carry on and it'll be those who leave who lose out not you

How frustrating!! .. what differance does it make if shes in the same class as pups to that particular person who dont like the idea?! shes learning just as there dog is .. some people are pathetic

Maybe they were jealous? They could see the rapport you've made with Lottie & they can't get the same with their own dogs!

What if she was a french mastiff, it would be a big pup, how would they feel then

Oh Jules... I would be more than peeved. Here it is never about how old a dog is but the level of obedience. I have seeen 3 year old Rotties with 6 month old poodles. The school also need to catch a wake up. You have worked wonders with Lottie and that should be recognised. whats with these people that they cant do this face to face. I would request a meeting with the potential class mates and thrash any issues out.

Poor lottie, some people are so small minded and just plain pathetic ringing up to complain, they should be there to focus on their dogs not worry about other people's dogs!

True - I really can't see why the age of the dog matters!

Yes, I think that's a good idea.

Re: Peeved to say the least
Poor Lottie, hope the new class works out ok. It was odd when I did the bronze class with Ledger as he was 12-18 months older than all the other dogs and unlike them I had only had him a couple of months. We always got paired with the Dogue de Bordeaux as neither were particularly bothered with each other
I wonder what the class would have made of the Pup we met in the park the other day she was just 6 months and almost twice the size of Ledger her owner said she is American bulldog

Re: Peeved to say the least
What is the matter with some people???
So what if Lottie is bigger than the pups! She didn't go for any of them, didn't cause anytrouble so what is their problem?!
If anything, it's good for their puppies to get used to being around older/bigger dogs - gives them a more rounded socialisation experience.
I could partially understand it if Lottie had attacked or intimidated their pups, but complaining just because she's bigger..... how completely pathetic. As pointed out by Kenny d, some pups are large because of their breed, would they demand that those pups be thrown out of the class?
Muppets.

Re: Peeved to say the least
i personaly think they didnt like the look of her and were intimidated. like i say there was another staffy in the class buthe was a small one like lemmy. i think they were frightened of her.

i still say the situation was mishandled. objections need to be raised upfront.

Re: Peeved to say the least
I am always irritated by the huge amount of ignorance. So crazy! Those people have no idea that they should actually be glad. It is actually really a great thing for pups to be around adults and learn how to behave around them. I'd be so mad. Cowards for not speaking up in front of you and feeling like they had to go behind your back! I really hope this other class works for you both.
