Oh no! Submissive weeing?
So Sapphire is doing absolutely FABULOUS, except she is now weeing submissively, at least i think its that.
When i come home from work (i work 5.5 hours a day) she is excited to see me but to stop her from jumping all over me whenever i come i i decided to ignore her for a few minutes while i put my things away etc, then give her some fuss when she has calmed down, this has worked because she is excited but doesn't go schitzo. BUT now whenever i go to fuss her she squats ready to pee, i have to stop an tell her no, but she doesn;t need to go wee because i let her out and she does nothing. This is why i think it is submissive weeing.
What can i do to stop it? I love to fuss her when i get home because i missed her too but i have to cut it very short due to the weeing.

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
I've been coming home with treats for a couple of weeks now.
Bode has learned that when I come in the door, if she sits and doesn't run off with my boots the second I take them off she gets one.
Then when I've sat down she gets fussed loads
I'll gradually cut the treats down until she does it without.
Might be of some help?

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
I had similar behaviour from Tilly but she did actually wet herself (though I don't know any girl that's been that pleased to see me before:) ) , and found quickly the best way was to either call the OH to keep her out of the way unitl I had got home and changed or as soon as she came to me , quick fuss and then let her out straight away , ideally whilst I got changed. She soon learnt the routine and also to give me a bit of space when I am in shirt and trousers.
Now after many months of practice she will quite happily come upstairs and watch me get changed and she knows the moment my jeans go on it's a free for all playfight and nor, mally a biscuit, and I can let her out before or after without any problems

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
She doesn't do this with my OH. He comes home from work, walks about with her following and moaning at him for fuss, then when he's ready they both play, for hours!
I think she knows that I am the boss of all bosses in this house and daddy is the boss but a playful one.
I will keep at it though! We have only been doing this for a few weeks because i just found another job, so before that somebody was always home so she wouldn't get so excited to see someone.
On another subject. I just had a huge giggle from her..She was in the kitchen playing with what i thought was her shadow, but it turned out to be her playing with an earwig...I think its dead now though

I think thats really good advice, also maybe take her out as soon as you are home b4 the excitment, she'll be able to hold it in time Xx

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
Nooo Janey! lol
We have decided to move house since out landlord is being a pleb and has decided to put our rent up bt still refuse to bring our house up to the 21st century standards. BUT some of the houses we have looked at don't allow pets, My OH said "we just get rid of the dog" I almost died lol...He was joking of course, but then he said "we can go visit her every week inthe kennels" lol
We're not even going on our annual holiday to Cornwall this year because it will mean leaving her along in the caravan for about 5 hours of an evening lol.
Our life revolves around her these days x

Know exactly what you mean at the moment it looks like we ar egiving up a Sunny Beach holiday for the OH 40th in favour of Cornwall or somewhere with Tilly, why do you have to leave her for 5 hours in the evening, find a good pub where she can go , job done

Well we usually go to Perran Porth on the Haven site because it has a lot for the kids of an evening and it usually lasts about 5 hours or so. Plussome of the beaches at that time of yr don't allow dogs But we are searching for somewhere where shecan roam free without worry x

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
We're going to a place at Easter that Caryll recommended to us as her friend runs it, beaches are driving distance , but they are dog friendly. www.dogs-holiday.co.uk. Not found anywhere for Summer yet . TBH when we had our caravan and when we went camping regular always avoided the bigger sites like the plague , the kids were always happy , wherever they were, and if it happened to have loads of things to do it normally involved lots of money and tears as well

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
I am thinking similar this year - hols in Cornwall, so thanks for the link Dave/Caryll
As for the submissive weeing, Dora did this for a little while if we had been out for a few hours, just from excitement I think. We literally had to leg it out of the back door with her when we got in.
She was worse when she met someone she didn't see as regularly. She dribbled on peoples shoes a bit a few times! Lol!
Now she is older and her bladder is stronger she doesn't do it at all, not even when she is desperate to go in the morning. She is more concerned with getting cuddles.
Hmmm. I did read some advice about submissive weeing somewhere... I'll try and track it down.

Re: Oh no! Submissive weeing?
Haven is a dog friendly place, last yr end of May bank holiday half term we went for the week in a caravan (usually we camp there for the long weekend) some couple the caravan opposite had 2 great danes, one was still in his puppy mentality cuz he was just bouncing everywhere bless him lol. The other was older and slower and tried his best to not get annoyed with his companion lol. But we see a lot of dogs there, its just the evenings that are problems. Maybe i'm just being a protective mommy by not wanting to leave her along in a strange place for too long.
I will definately change my search words to "dog friendly holidays" Me the silly moo didn;t think of that lol
thanks guys

When i get up in the morning i open the back door for Sapphire but she turns and walks away lol...She see's how cold it is and must think "oh i can hold it a bit longer" lol...she then goes back upstairs and dives on one of the kids beds until i get them up, THEN she will go out. We let her sleep upstairs with us on the landing in her bed, it gets very cold downstairs and when we had snow it was freezing down thre so we moved her bed upstairs. It did us a favour because she was still weeing in the night before we moved her, now she holds it. we leave doors open so she can come down to the kitchen and use the paper if she needs to but for 4 weeks now we haven't had a single accident in the night
