Sounds like it I'm afraid. Good news is though, staffies can live up to 15ish years if well cared for. She may be starting to slow down a bit, and showing the signs of getting older, but hopefully she'll be with you for a good few years yet Smile

Yeh cats and dogs are considered 'senior' once they're over 7. Bear in mind though that we started giving our cat senior food at 7 and he lived to 22. Surprised Although dogs sadly don't live as long as cats to paraphrase interview with a vampire 'theres life in the old lady yet!'

Kita started to get some gray whiskers on her chin around the age of 6 or 7 years, she is now 15 years and her little face is very gray. Sad

It's only this last 12 months that I have tried some "senior" food for her.
Most of the time these days I have to look for food and treats that are not too hard for her to chew as her teeth are quite worn now.

I think it's more noticeable on darker or brindle dogs, unfortunately.

Kita was pretty active up until the last 12-18 months.

my grandmothers staff lived to be 18, she fed him on pedigree pal and never gave him senior dog food. i think it might depend on the dog and their life style Big Grin

We used to think Millie had grey until we found out it was white because of her collie cross! Big Grin But it'll be fine! As long as shes healthy dont worry about anything, thats what I always think about Millie and Casey. With the colour of Stellas fur she will go grey quicker.Caseys 11 and has absolutely no grey at all because she is white!

I read somewhere that its normal for Staffy's to start showing a bit of grey round the muzzle from 3 years onwards, its not a sign of getting old it's just a bit of sophistication creeping in, and BTW Sasha lools like a real lady Big Grin

Senior food is better, they dont need as much protien, Blitz passed away with kidney failure at 16 , and to much protien can contibute. im not suggesting thats what will happen, we just need to do whats right for our dogs

Tasha is 15 and she has an Incurin tablet every couple of days to stop her peeing in her sleep, common in older spayed bitches. Get it from the vet but cant remember what it costs but i think it's not bad.She also has to have a low protein diet but wont eat the prescription stuff so i make her food.
