NAWT Somerset- Beautiful Bella
It has now been 3 weeks since my partner & I adopted Heston from NAWT Somerset and we are having a fantastic time with him....
When we first saw him he was in a housed in a row of Staffy's and his neighbour was a beautiful little girl Staffy called Bella. She was reserved for a new home at the time but sadly I recently found out that it had fallen through, as unfortunately she is deaf . She was born in Oct 2011 and I suspect she has never even seen inside a house, let alone enjoyed the security of a human companion.
I do not work at NAWT but as someone with a growing love of the Staffy breed and having had such a wonderful adoption experience, I feel it can only help by passing on this little girls info to other Staffy lovers

I really do hope that someone has room in their home & hearts for this plucky princess

Re: NAWT Somerset- Beautiful Bella
Hi,
Bella is beautiful, it's such a shame...!!!
Sometimes I think that they do it too difficult to adopt a dog - like with Bella - I can't understand why she couldn't be adopted to somebody with adog? I think that if the dog was friendly it could make her feel safer? And maybe even the training could be easier because she could learn from the other dog? I'm not an expert, though, of course...
I hope something will wrk out for her soon...
Xx

Re: NAWT Somerset- Beautiful Bella
I can't understand why they're insisting she be the only dog. I would recommend quite the opposite. We have five dogs (had six until Jan when we had to say goodbye to our old fella Samson, R.I.P. Mommy's Bestest Little Boy), three of whom are deaf. All of our deaf dogs have come to us into a pack, and I think it's only been a bonus that they've had other dogs to observe and learn from, as well as utilise as their ears.

You would have thought it makes sense. I guess they must have their own reason for her being the only dog ??

Re: NAWT Somerset- Beautiful Bella
It says: "a home with no children, cats or dogs so that her new owners can concentrate on her training to help her progress and learn more about the big wide world".
I'm sure a deaf dog can do just as well in a home without other dogs, but this stipulation is narrowing down her opportunities IMHO. Plus, many people who really are into dogs and have a lot of experience with dogs (which is a bonus when taking on a deaf puppy), already have dogs. I've contacted them to ask if it's possible to sponsor her. I don't expect they adopt dogs to people abroad, plus we already have five, so they probably wouldn't consider us even if we lived in the UK.

I hope it's ok to put up an update here We have adopted Bella and she's been with us now since June. She's doing fantastic and is as happy as pig in s*it as part of our crew of six. She's our fourth deaf dog.
You can see photos of her here: https://s226.photobucket.com/albums/dd45/sontatollari/Bella/
