Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
This is our other problem with Charlie 17wk old . Everynight about 7.30 he goes nutts running around the house full speed bouncing off the walls and doors . If you try to stop him he just gets worse .
He is taken for 2 x 45 min walks a day one in the morning one about 6.30 .
We have tried ignoring him but he runs along the back of the sofa`s and will nip if you try to get him off and just get more wound up .
He is fine all day but come the same time every night and he becomes a monster for about 2 hours .
He is crate trained at night and never have a problem once it`s bed time .
Heellpppp please .

It's normal, he's a puppy
Stick with training him no, along with the nipping and he'll learn in time

Yep, I'd say it's normal too. I love it when Monty does it, it's so funny watching him having this funny run-around on the wooden floor, as sometimes he is running on the same spot until he gets his grip

Billy does it too, he takes the same route every night

Re: Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
Monty does it UNDER MY BED ! And when he is under it, he can't even stand up as it isn't high enough, so he does a super-fast-crawl-around

Re: Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
we had the same problem with kenny, i spoke to a trainer at the time and she said it's just a burst of energy and that their aware that its soon bed time, she also said that it could be his food ( to much protien or rubbishy food)

Although it's fairly normal for a pup his age, it could certainly be something to do with his food. What do you feed him & when?

Re: Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
Sounds like normal puppy behaviour but it could be related to his food

Daisy is 3 and does it often, she hits the back of the couch turned sideways and bounce back runs, back to the bedroom jumps on the bed, and all over again, then shell carry her toy in her mouth as she is going. we just let her go.

Think yourself lucky. Dempsey still occasionally does it & he's nearly three years old & 31 kilos!

At the moment he`s on Baker complete Dry puppy food . He`s feed in the morning around 9.30 -10.00 the evening about 6.30 ish . And access to biscuits all day .
This was going to be my next question whats the best food for him ???

Hehe Heston's Zoomie time is between 4.30- 6pm! We let him have his moment, as he looks like he is having a ball, but when he gets too rough we take him for a blast round the garden so he burns it off.

OMG, please, please, please get him off Bakers! It's full of nasty additives (colouring & flavouring mainly) that are known to cause hyperactivity!
Have a look through the recommendations in the link already given. They may be a little more expensive (although most are very reasonable) but they'll be so much better for him!

Well I remember 'mad hour' every evening!! This is how Roxy got the nickname Roxy Rocket
She only does it once in a blue moon now, but I really think it's quite normal judging from the amount of pups (not just staffys) that do it!!

Caryll is 100% right , Baker's is rubbish , if they spent more time on the quality than getting dogs to bark at the Telly they might be ok. The mad behaviour is completely normal and one of the highlights of having a puppy.
I fed Tilly on Wainwrights from Pets at Home and she's been fine but there are loads og good brands out there , just get rid of the Bakers, but do it gradually to avoid the dicky tummy time

I m a member on another site, thought this may help.i pasted and copyed this. Having worked in the pet food industry for a short while, I would totally agree with views expressed here re Bakers, and I certainly wouldn´t want my dogs to eat it. I wouldn´t feed my dogs on any food where there are different shapes or colourants in the food. The different shapes and colourants are not there for the dog´s benefit, but to make the food appeal to us. A dog doesn´t care if his bowl of food is all one shape and one colour, whereas we humans do. In addition, the shapes enable manufacturers to make use of a legal loophole - if they are claiming that a food is chicken or lamb or beef etc, then, by law, there has to be 4% minimum meat & animal derivatives of whatever it says on the bag. However, the law does not state that the bag as a whole must contain this much meat, so in the case of Bakers there is approx 5/6 different shapes in the bag but only one of these shapes contains 4% min meat & animal derivatives of whatever, meaning that the bag as a whole contains less than 1% meat & animal derivatives of chicken etc, which means of course that Bakers is virtually meat free.
Amazingly, when I was selling pet food, Bakers was the top selling food on the market. Not sure if this is still true.

Re: Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
Well what a difference 24hr`s make .
The biting has stopped ,racing around at 90 has stopped, pulling on the lead has stopped , he listens to me when i tell him to do something .
Never again will i give a dog Bakers and i will be telling all my friends and family not to either !
Emailed them last night saying thanks for nothing . And how many dogs have been rehomed or even put down due to them being hyper and the owners not knowing any different .
This Charlie now yesterday we couldn`t control him . He was biting growling and constantly running around and bouncing off the walls . Not good with a 6 year old little girl in the house .
This is the calmest he`s been in a week !
Thank you all so much for your advice

Re: Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
Fantastic! So glad we could help.
I was in Morrisons supermarket day before yesterday & I happened to be going down the dog food isle to get to the fresh meat (Dempsey's fed raw) when I passed a young couple looking at a box of Bakers. I carried on, but then turned back & rather hesitantly told them that they should perhaps re-think which food they were going to give their dog. They were really grateful and angry that there were no warnings on the packet! They ended up leaving the supermarket brands where they were, and going off to the nearest PAH to get one of the better quality ones!

It's a bit like feeding a three year old child on nothing but cheap fizzy drinks & junk food - they get so hyperactive & disobedient!

Re: Charlie going nutts every night . HHeelllppppppp
Thats exactley how he was . So naughty my little girls was in tears because her perfect pup was just being a nightmare . She couldn`t sit with him ,play with him , or even touch him without him nipping at her !
We spent most of yesterday just dealing with him trying to control him .I lost count of how many time outs in his crate he had today totally different doggy he is again a pleasure to be with .
We were out on his morning walk earlier and a young couple over the road were smiling at him and i asked if they would like to come and say hello to him , as i want him to be as social as possible meeting lots of different people . They were only to happy to come and see him he sat and wagged his tail and licked their hands the perfect gent .
Yesterday wouldn`t of even asked as he would have jumped up and tried to bite their hands .
