hi cud do wit help please newbie to this
Hi i have 2 staffys love them to bits 15 month male and an 8 month female both r white my male (boston) is perfect in everyway untill i try and put him in his crate he will lie in it during the day but on a ngt i go to shut the door and he shows so much aggresion its quite scary scared the life out of me in the beginning i have to quickly shut it before he gets out he goes in himself its just as soon as i lock it dont know wot to do im stuck my female (cloud) is so diff she goes in lies down and goes to sleep she is so laid back has anyone got any tips for me please xxx thanku becky xxx

if he can sense your scared then he will continue to play up. can he be persuaded with a treat
when he goes in during the day close the door for small periods so he learns you return and open it

Hi & welcome.
Yes, have you tried that way? It sounds as though he's had a bad experience with the door being shut & doesn't feel comfortable with it.
Is there a reason you still shut him in at night? Usually, by his age, you should be able to trust him enough to sleep peacefully overnight without damage to himself or property.

yes I wondered if there is a treat he absolutely loves that you could throw in the crate so he is occupied with getting it, more than you locking the door.
has he always been like that or has he had a bad experience with the crate ?

Agree with all as it sounds like he has a bad experience. If you have to close the door try sitting with him until he is sleepy and then closing the door

Hi and welcome to the forum. He may have a feeling of being trapped or cornered which would get that reaction. Try working slowly with him by making it a pleasant experience. It may take some patience.
