Would she protect me?
I often wonder, as I walk Molly alone, if she would protect me.she's very loal and will not go anywhere with anyone else especially if I'm there, and follows me around the house but if the unthinkable was to happen, would she defend me if I was attacked.... I'm not sure she will, she doesn't seem that bright and doesn't even bark....

I agree totally with Stella.
Then again my last staffy Tammy (passed away age 14 a couple of years ago) was very protective of me. I think she would of protected me to the end, not so sure about Roxy tho she's a proper people lover!!

We went walking in the woods with Heston today and I'm sure he would of happily re-homed himself with any of the other people out. At one point he saw another couple and everytime we called him back to us, he just ran even faster towards them!!!

Re: Would she protect me?
I wondered that about Bandit. He loved most people, whether he knew them or not. Then one night a drunk guy started to talk to me while I was walking Bandit, and he wouldn't go away. Eventually he tried putting his arm around me & Bandit went berserk! Never touched the guy, but made an awful lot of noise - certainly enough to scare the pants off him!

late night walks are the only time marley becomes vocal, if someones following you he'll sit down wait for them to pass, but if they try and approach the wife he'll growl and bark til they have gone, only does it with males who haven't got a dog with them

Re: Would she protect me?
i've slipped on the ice when out with Herman, accidently dropping the lead briefly. Herman could've been gone in a flash, but he came back to me from whatever had his attention at the time, to check on me and stand guard.

Re: Would she protect me?
It could be possible.Jett never leaves my side in the house or on walks. When I'm walking him and he hears someone approaching he always stops and checks them out especially if it's dark and they're approaching from behind.
A couple of nights ago a group of people were quite drunk and giving me trouble and as they approached from behind Jett lunged at them and started growling.I think it all depends on the dog and/or the situation.

Really not sure with Max TBH, he's such a tart I just cant imagine him being nasty with anyone, tho I would like to think he would instinctively know good from bad

Re: Would she protect me?
Hi
I went over on my ankle walking one of my girls, she was 6 at the time, lovely temperament, never had a grumble for anything. But she wouldn't let anyone near
me, she growled and bared her teeth. I had to hop home, felt like an idiot, looked
like one too all the time defending her to the neighbours that followed me
So you never know until the time comes.

Re: Would she protect me?
I think it depends on the dog. Ty has stood infront of my youngests pushchair and growled and snarled when an off lead dog ran barking towards us and pinned a dog whos owner said it did like my hair (dont ask lol) who was in attack mode and has also warned off a group of drubk teenagers who were throwing things in my direction at night. Kaos on the other hand hides behind me when my friends 5 month old pomerinien chases him (she is litterally looks like a hamser x ginie pig (sp?) so i have no hope for him lmao!

Olly loves everyone and everything ,he would probably just sit and be fussed. When he growls it sounds more like a cat purring. So no i do not think he would protect me,not where people are concerned

Re: Would she protect me?
Clover is the most protective of my dogs. She's very alert if we are walking and someone walks past in a hat or a hoody, particularly if they are male.
She has also growled at my ex husband (who is a stranger to her) when he came to see the kids after being absent for 2 years. I think she may have picked up my feelings about him :S
Lastly, my step dad came over a few months ago and he has a habit of giving me lectures about anything and everything. This time I happened to lose my temper a bit and he raised his voice at me and stood up. Clover obviously thought he was a threat to me and growled at him. He soon sat down!
So all in all, I think that she would protect me or the kids if it came to it. As for my other dogs....not a chance! lol
