how much offal?
I have given Milo some bits of offal here and there but mainly tripe.
I know sometimes offal can be too much and make them loose but keen to add more variety of a little bit more of this and that here and there. Is it best to do a bit in each meal type thing or entire as a meal? For example how would you feed lamb lungs, pig kidneys or cows liver??!!

Re: how much offal?
I've always fed just a little, two or three times a week, mixed in with their normal food. Depending which diet you follow, tripe may or may not be considered offal! For example, the prey model diet classes tripe as muscle meat, whereas the barf diet says it's organ meat. Confusing.
I used to feed Dempsey mainly on tripe, but as you say, it made his poo very soft & his breath very smelly!
Any offal should be fed sparingly, though - it's very rich & too much can easily upset the stomach.

thanks Caryll yes that's what I thought. He wouldn't take it raw at all so dh fried it off dry in the frying pan (oh lord!) he soon waffed it down ha! Tripe does smell vile to me and tripe dog breath has got to be worse, poor you, glad you've stopped it, it must be bad for your health!

He still gets it sometimes, just not as often. A lady I know (owns 3 GSDs) buys whole beef stomachs from her butcher, quarters them & gives them to her dogs like that!

I think she needs lol!! Oh my I can't even think about it!
I too feed it to Milo sometimes, thankkfully he lives out side and it doesn't give him wind which is good. I think I follow the BARF diet yes. However the prey model diet makes more sense as it's more balanced. We do feed grated veg and fruit too with most meals am and pm and eggs from our hens from time to time too. The thing is how do you implement a prey model diet, can you buy whole small feathered and furries?! I could get rabbits easily enough but with pellets! Not ideal lol!

Re: how much offal?
You can give whole carcasses (with or without the fur). Some dogs will love it, others won't know what to do with it! If you get something that's been shot you'll need to pick out all the pellets or you risk lead poisoning!
