Raw Lambs Heart
Is it alright to give a young staffy raw lambs heart for a treat once a week? Also i heard from a friend who freezes the hearts & just gives it to his Staffy dog frozen? I dont want to feed my dog raw foods all the time but just as a treat now & again

Once a week will be fine, but you dont want to be giving your dog to much organ meat, also like Lynne said make sure you frezze it for 72 hours before you feed it to you dog...

Re: Raw Lambs Heart
Heart isn't organ meat it's classed as muscle meat so can be fed as often as your dog can tolerate it, as it is a bit rich

I think you will find that heart is a organ and a very fatty one at that...

I no the heart is an organ but in terms of raw I think you'll find it's muscle meat, organs are only those that are 'secreting' which the heart isn't

Whilst it's an organ within the body, it's classed as muscle from the point of view of feeding raw. I know there's a fair bit of fat on it, but you can cut a lot of it off. It's a very rich source of meat, though, so should be given fairly sparingly.

Bruno used to have hearts only once a week because apparentley they can cause fluid around the heart and i used to cook his before hand...but it's everyone to their own as there's so many versions on certain foods.
