rolly over/back wigging/ running type stuff
Hi
Just wondered if anyone else's staffy while running off lead does a throw themselves on the floor rolls completely over and get up and starts running again, or throws themselves on the ground mid run and wiggles around on there backs after a bit of a sniff?? does anyone have any idea what this means..
Also i have read that book in a day lol by Turid Rugaas is amazing. i would recommend to all, made me see Rivers behavior in a whole new light, also able to 'speak' back to her.. i have noticed a difference in her already. not that there was ever really a problem but helping to calm her and reading her signals of stress and discomfort and fear..fantastic it is..

yep this about describes lemmy. sometimes he does this at the most iapropriate times like when on the grassy island in the middle of the road

They do this to get rid of their scent. God help you if he does it in badger poo, that stuff is the most foul smelling crap i have ever had the displeasure of having to clean off a dog. (said dog was a very hyper very hair collie...never again)

lemmy doesnt do it in any poo he just decides to roll over now and again he could be outside or in the living room at home he will roll on his back wiggle about a bit and then get up and run round like a crazey man

So glad we dont have foxes or badgers around here. Yes my boy likes to wriggle on his back too.

Ju will do it very rarely, since most of the time he's just sticking by me and playing. Never on lead though.

i hope she dont do it in poo it jsut been on the grass she nearly did in the mud earlier.. but i used the fetch command and she mssed the much pack.. bonus.. its just a matter of time thou..
i wondered if it was because she was trying to whack her sent done everywhere, or a playful thing. twas great today someone on here said they hide behind trees and play hide and seek. we did that today to..River loved it.. with a roll mid run
Good to know River is not the only one.

Yeh Romeo does that, only in long grass though. He also bounces around with all four legs like a bull terrier's 'bully bounce'.
I've still never succeded in teaching him to 'roll over'.

its not something i have taught River, if i give her the role over command she just looks at me like i have suddenly grown a couple of extra heads and a arm.. she does it of her own accord..

Suki does this as well. It's a part of her daily routine in the park

Pixee does that which does send us off laughing so much. She does roll in something, not dog poo, think it was fox? but gee the smell, we had to give her a bath, which she did enjoy after calming down. We used the shower head on her in the bath.

Bandit used to do that. He'd go full pelt, then just take all four paws off the ground & skid along on his back - it was hilarious. Nine time out of ten at the end of the skid he'd flip back onto his paws & carry on running. Also, if you threw a ball or stick he'd go so fast that the only way he could stop was to throw himself over!
