taken by suprise.
I was walking chase over the park today, and came across another staffy owner which was a surprise.
Even through there are LOADS of staffys around my area, its vary rare to see another one over the park for some reason.
As we walked past eachother both dogs ran up to eachother and had a little sniff and jumped around eachother a bit as dogs do, and i said "it makes a change to see another staff over the park" the woman just looked at Chase, turnt her nose up and said "if you can call that a staff, looks more like a pitbull if you ask me"
Now i know Chase is far from the staff pedigree standard with his leggy athletic build, but her dog was probably one of the least typical lookin staffs ive ever seen, it had a staff face, but was really skinny with a big fluffy tail!
Ive heard it all before "why you got a pitbull?" from what would consider uneducated dog owners, but to get it from another staffy owner really shocked me! i usually have a smart * reply, but this time i just had a look of confusion and carried on walking lol. I really didn't see it coming!

A Staffy Snob That would shock you hearing that from another Staffy owner.
Although it must be nice seeing other Staffy's. Where I live they are not very well known and you see very few. Since I've had Frank I've seen only two others.

We have a very ignorant staffy owner out the back of us, she always walks the dog to school with her pram , on the occasion I have been at home and I take the kids to school with Tilly I've given up even smiling at her now. A few weeks ago her dog was loose and on our neighbours garden licking him to death (the dog is fantastic) and as I recognised her went out and stuck collar and lead on her and took her back , the dad was very shocked as he didn't know she was out , the mrs was in the house as he shouted something to her, has she ever even bothered to say thankyou , has she boll***s
I always go out of my way to say hello and make a fuss of every one that I see, as we should all be sticking together , so like everyone says it's the other end of the lead that's the problem

Silly cow. Chase is a beauty (love your avatar by the way!), and if she can't see that, then she doesn't know much!

Wow! Id have been speechless too!
I have always enjoyed meeting other staffy owners as there seems to be a mutual understanding of how others can perceive you and they are usually really supportive and lovely.
I guess theres always the exception to the rule!

Re: taken by suprise.
I know, its crazy. Like you said Other people with staffs usually know the situation, I knew IDE get it when I picked the breed, and it was something I was prepared to deal with, but to get it from Sumone else with a staff! There are some people around my area that have staffs as a status dog, and I guess because of my age she assumed I was one of them.

Re: taken by suprise.
I think askin Sumone if ther dog is a cross (in a nice way) is fine. But if they tell you it's not a cross or they don't think it's a cross, don't then stand and argue with them about the breed of their own dog lol. Some people seem to get really aggravated if you ask if they're dog is a cross. I guess we all take pride in our dogs in one way or another.

Re: taken by suprise.
there are no staff owners around me. the only time i see any is if i'm at a show or the kennel club, or my breeders kennel
Re: taken by suprise.
people often say to us that Mambo may be a cross with a boxer. he probably isn't but I don't mind them saying that really. anyway, when they do it's rather to start a nice conversation not to show us 'they know better'.
we live in a place where a lot of people have dogs - many different breeds- so I guess the way people approach dogs and dog walkers here may be a bit different and probably our life is easier in that sense

Re: taken by suprise.
I'd have found it hard to keep my opinions to my self there. The staffy owners I see in my little town all seem friendly at the very least we Exchange a smile and nod acknowledging we have awesome dogs Lol

Re: taken by suprise.
So I could be a staffy snob if my dog's tail was fluffy? Fluffy tails are so unstaffy.
