vegetables
Hi everyone, I am giving Vinnie carrots and cabbage in his meal in the evening. I understand that they probably should be cooked, I do blend them right down in a processor allbeit they are raw. Any advice on whats best ?

Re: vegetables
well my boys love grated raw carrot mixed in with their food, but they also love cooked carrots too...not sure which one is best. They love to chew on a carrot every now and then like a bone.
They also love pumpkin and sweet potato (cooked )
I would be scared to give mine cabbage (though they do have cauliflower and broccilli sometimes ) as they already do smelly pop offs!!

Re: vegetables
Dogs can't digest raw vehetables unless they are pulped, so by all means put them through a processor & they'll probably love them! You could also cook them, but then you lose most of the goodness.
I give Dempsey raw carrots & cabbage in large lumps because he likes them!

Re: vegetables
Dempsey's weird. He won't eat any veg if it's been cooked! Everything has to be raw. He'll eat any type of cabbage, carrots, sprouts, peas, green beans, mushrooms, broccoli and probably others I've forgotten about! But not if they're cooked, then he won't touch them.

Re: vegetables
Vlad eats everything: we haven't tried him on vegetables yet... but he'd eat them... he eats everything... including things we don't consider food e.g.; his bed, socks (clean or dirty, he's not fussy) trees, bricks, paving slabs, mulch, his kennel, and the husband's hands seems to be a particular fave!

No, not really, cause he won't eat them pulped which means they don't actually do him any good! *sigh* He's an idiot.

Re: vegetables
Sapphire has veggies with her meat every day. She likes carrots, broccoli and peas and we're slowly itroducing other vegetables. All of thm cooked. We also give her rice, pasta and potatoes too. She absolutely loves it and refuses to eat anything else except foods we freshly cook for her lol.
We ran out of meat the other day so we had to give her dry food for her supper, she was having non of it even with some tasty gravy, she liked thegravy off but left the food lol.
Today she is having tripe with carrots, peas and pasta...Sounds yummy...apart from the tripe part of it.

Re: vegetables
my two hate veggies i tried for fun putting some on top their breaky the other day which was tripe. Both of them shook the tripe so all the veggies went everywhere ate the tripe and left everything else, so no i don't give them and the have never been a part of their diet anyway i don't see the point.

Re: vegetables
What vegetable is good for dogs? I'm scared to feed my dog with veggies because I've heard that some are toxic to them.

Carrots, cabbage, broccoli, potato (cooked), pumpkin (cooked), peas, sprouts, beans are all ok. Some veg are not good - onions for example - and should never be given.
Don't forget, though, that dogs can't digest vegetables unless they are either cooked (in which case you lose most of the nutrients) or pulped to break down the cellulose.

Re: vegetables
So I've learned that they are unable to digest veggies unless cooked er processed, what about fruits??
