The book and the 80 year old man

My sister was bought a book from a Church table top sale when she was a kid and like all her books she kept it. She was looking through her books and found it again



There was a name inside and it said he won it as a prize in 1938



So she thought "I wonder" !!!!!!!! So she googled the name of the kid and what do you know she found an 80 year old man who is in the choir at a church about a mile away. She went to the church to meet him and showed him the book and YES it was his so she gave him it back. He was so happy to have and they sat chatting and he told her all about it and what life at school was like when he was a kid and what he had done with his life since.
How nice is that. Warms the cockles of your heart for a change instead of all the nasty stuff in the news these days.

Wonderful story. It is heartwarming to know that things like this can and do happen.

That is a great story. I love old book shops and once picked up a book in a charity shop. It's called Some Other Rainbow, written by John McCarthy & Jill Morrell. Some of you may recognise the names as John was kidnapped in Beirut in 1986 and held for five years. Jill was the girl he was going to marry.

It was not until I got the book home later that day that I realized it had been signed by both authors.

I've had the book for years but still have to pluck up the courage to read it.
