Well Royce my pup who has just turned 15 weeks today his still doesn't do his business on the paper but I still correct him when I can he can jump on sofas perfectly when I say he can I taught him the sit, stay, come, lie down and bark command he responds to his name, his got some urge to guard when someone he don't know or who he thinks could be a threat he barks at them but never leaves the house to give chase unless they decide to walk in first he will bark to try deter the potential threat then if they get closer he will growl and show his teeth but don't know what would happen next because it never gets to that point when I say Royce its a visitor he will automatically wag his tail and greet them his a loving male but that doesn't mean that he isn't stubborn he begs for his food when it's not yet time for it he still drinks out of a milk bottle the little baby but I love him his so funny and random he will randomly run around and it just makes you smile his like a little rocket flying out of control I shall record these moments and share it with the community Big Grin

Glad he's doing well. I wouldn't scold him for missing the paper - he's still very young. Just pick him up & place him where you want him to go & then clear up the accident.

It will just click into place with some things, and some things will take longer, and you think you master one thing and another thing pops up Laughing

I do think that you're making trouble for yourself. A staff shouldn't be unfriendly towards strangers unless they are a direct threat to their owners. You're encouraging behaviour that is not only foreign to the breed, but also potentially dangerous. Don't forget that the new law when it comes in covers private property & takes into account whether or not a legitimate visitor feels 'threatened' by your dog.

I find it very difficult to believe that a dog that has just turned 15 weeks old has guarding urges and understands to be friendly when you tell him it's a visitor?? At that age, everybody is their best friend, they just want to greet and jump and lick and nibble and play ....... etc.

have to admit yes he does seem very young to be carrying on like that..all the staffys I know will run up to people wagging their tails trying to lick the people... especially as he still really is a baby.

Sorry, this may be rude to ask but what was your reasoning behind choosing Royce to join your family?

That really isn't the point. You are encouraging bad behaviour in your pup. Staffordshire Bull Terriers have enough bad press (mostly unfairly) without people teaching them to attack people.

Please stop it.
