Re: crab?
yeh its nice. the only difference in taste between a crab and crab paste is the strength of the flavour. paste has loads of flavour to get to like it but a reall crab is milder less harsh taste. its quite nice. buy a dressed crap it will save you messing about. it will come in the top of the shell with the meat on the top and other bits made into a paste underneath in the bottom of the shell. quite nice

Re: crab?
I love crab! As already said, get it 'dressed' & you'll like it.
I don't like brown trout, but I do like Rainbow Trout - but I'll only have the fillets cause I can't be bothered with all the bones otherwise!
I used to eat rabbit stew - my grandad used to catch rabbits with his Jack Russel Terrier & my Nan would skin & gut them & throw the meat in a pot with veg & put it on the hob for a couple of hours. The house used to smell sooooo good! Makes me ill to think of eating it now, though!
I've also had frogs legs (didn't think much of them) and snails (yuk!! like large & very chewy whelks!).

Re: crab?
Yes, when I was in France in the early 80s. A little restaurant on the belgian border (Bailleul). It was a starter - 4 snails in a garlic dressing. *shudder* I only had them so i could say that I'd eaten snails!

Religion or food?
When we lived in Wales we had a field that backed onto our back garden. Every spring the farmer would put a dozen beef calves in the field to fatten them up for slaughter in the autumn. We'd lean over the fence & feed them apples (bad! shouldn't feed cattle aplles, they ferment in their stomachs, but we didn't know that then!) and they'd get to know us. We'd give them all names, and then one day they'd all be gone! I knew they would very soon be on someone's dinner plate.
That, and all the drugs etc that are pumped into meat animals. We started by not eating beef, then we dropped lamb & pork but still ate free range organic chicken. After a while we couldn't even face the chicken so we gave it up completely. Still eat fish & shellfish, though.

Re: crab?
Crab sounds disgusting, but I don't like any fish at all, couldn't face eating it! In saying that though, I ate the flappy bit on a chickens neck when we went to Tokyo! At the time, we thought it was bacon

Lots of things most people find disgusting such as:
jelly fish, horse, snake, eel, possum, racoon, alligator tail, crickets, ants, cockroaches I could go on for quite awhile. Lots of traveling and working with people from other countries

It was that way you were just chewing, and chewing, and chewing, and chewing... I hate to think what the non-English speaking man gave us a big NO! to was, if he let us eat the neckflaps
There's a Mongolian restaurant near us that sells all sorts of weird stuff. Last week, RJ had camel as a starter!

Re: crab?
Frogs legs are one thing I could never ever eat....I am petrified of frogs and toads so just reading this has made me shiver.
I haven't eaten anything like that, only ever really stuck to beef, chicken, turkey and lamb.
Haven't eaten lamb for years though. When we were growing up we had a few sheep and dad used to breed them each year. We would get attached to the lambs, one ewe would always have twins but could only ever feed one so we always had an orphan. We'd spent the spring with them and then dad would take them to slaughter and fill our freezer. Used to make me feel awful eating them......but the worst was eating a lamb which we used to play rugby with. He was a right character and used to headbutt a rugby ball along the ground with us when we went in the field to see them.

Re: crab?
My Hubby and daughters are going crabbing tomorrow while i'm at work
I don't like crab much though, only if it's in crab and corn soup. ( i'm a bit fussy )
Not too keen on crayfish either, and only like prawns if they have a nice sauce or dressing.
