Walking Chloe
Chloe usually will pull on the leash but I have managed to overcome that by running her at the beginning of the walk. The problem now is that when we get to our street she wants to continue in in another direction and it can be 20 minutes to get her from the corner to the house and when she gets to the driveway she just lays down. She does have a hip problem so I am reluctant to walk her to far. But this takes the enjoyment out of the walks and the neighbors have come to refer to it as Chloe's civil disobedience
I am open to any suggestions.

Re: Walking Chloe
A better way to deal with the pulling is to change directions every time she starts to pull. Keep a treat in your hand and let her smell it and that should get her to look up at you and follow. It takes some time to work but it should also help with not wanting to go back to the house as well

Re: Walking Chloe
I agree.
If she has a hip problem she probably shouldn't be doing too much running on hard surfaces (ie pavement). It's the high impact exercise that will make her hips sore.
I'd say that she feels that she wants more of a walk. I know you're reluctant to walk her too far, but could you take her to the park & let her run around off lead for a while?

Re: Walking Chloe
she doesnt want to go home just yet. you would be surprised that it may only take another minute or 2 for her to go home nicely. sometimes we only have to walk round the block once more and then lemmy will come home without hesitation. he's another that digs his heels in and will not move if he doesnt want to. he lays on his back and moans which is quite funny to passers by

Re: Walking Chloe
I used the walking in a different direction with Lola and it worked a treat!!
She hardly pulls now! Only if she smells something really good!
Lola drags her heels when she knows were on our way home... as if to say but..but mum!! I wanna play
