Rubys 1st season
As some of you know Ruby started her 1st season on the 29th October. She blead for about 3 weeks and at the beginning of this week the bleed stopped. Are bitches seasons ment to last this long? Is it because its her first? And how will i know its totaly over?
Also while im here, she's been scratching like hell at her nipples, and shuffling roung on her bum. She is flead and wormed, so i know its not that?! Im stumped, and could do with a bit of help, or its the vets on monday :-\
Cheers guys

re, scratching at her nipples, this is quite normal when a bitch is in heat, they become very itchy and sensitive, the joys of owning a bitch

Re: Rubys 1st season
Yup, 4 weeks.
Try rubbing a little Sudocrem on her nipples if they seem ultra sensitive, it might help.

Re: Rubys 1st season
Do you have an Aloe Vera shampoo? That's often quite soothing.
I think vets don't like to spay till 3 months after their season, but I could be wrong there.

Exactly right Caryll, its just so everything can calm down down there, all the blood vessles are by the surface which could cause complications if spayed too early but the vets will advice you on this anyhow x

Re: Rubys 1st season
I dont think you can put a pic on your signiture, you just need to open a photobucket account. There are special pants you can get for the bleeding, I swore by them as have a brand new cream carpet!!

Re: Rubys 1st season
Any good pet shop, pets at home etc, you buy the pants basically a bit of elastic that goes round them and then you have to a thing that looks like a sanitery towl, well it is basically, these need changing a few times a day but they really do work x

Re: Rubys 1st season
They do work. I swore by them. Moo was booked in to be nuetered, I took her in at 8am, the vet took one look and told me she had come into season. Needless to say the spotting started later that day. Just moved into a new place and the carpets where already getting ruined. Clasping at straws I bought the puppy pads the next day, and all the time we where at home, granted not too much cause she came to work with me, she wore them. Took a hour to get used but they where a saviour
