New to the forum - English Bull Terrier Owner.
Hello everyone. Got added via YouTube. Thought I'd have a look around and introduce myself.
I grew up with Staffs, which are beautiful dogs. Had a break with not having a dog in the house for many years due to redecoration of the house so it's been quite a while since having a dog around the house. I'm a new owner to a 14 week old pure white English Bull Terrier who is a little belter, called Monty. i'm enjoying having him around the house .. didn't actually realize what a hard job it actually is ... but I wouldn't change it for the world : ) Currently going through some trial and errors trying to put him on the right food that settles in his gut ... it's good fun though, and I'm looking forward to the times ahead with him : )
Cheers, Maria.

Monty looks very cute in your avatar. Can't wait to see more. Every time I have seen a bull terrier they have intrigued me! What a great name by the way.

Re: New to the forum - English Bull Terrier Owner.
Do you know how hard it was to name him ?! Cor blimey, I never realised just how hard it is to pick a simple name ! I wanted something different, something with a meaning behind it, but in the end I settled with Monty as alot of people agreed it was a nice name.
A question about the photo competitions ... how does that work .. where do I submit photos, or does the opportunity to do that get announced on the date the competition is open ? Thanks : )

Thank you Caryll.
When my wife had our son, for some reason he became insanely jealous, despite us doing everything to not make him feel pushed out ... and we could see an agressive streak forming because of it (no matter how much we tried to counter it) he seemed to resent a little un in the house ... so tho it broke my heart, I found him a new home , with a couple without kids, and plenty of room/time on their hands.

Re: New to the forum - English Bull Terrier Owner.
Bless ! What a sad story : ( My friend had a Bully, and that is what inspired me to own one, because their personality shone so brightly between the dog and the owner like I've never seen in a dog before. It was like 2 humans, the dog just 'knew' if his owner was giving someone else attention, the dog 'knew' he was being talked about, he was stuborn to his owner if his owner left him for 5 minutes .. it was rather strikingly unbelievable to see such a dog interact with a human with his personality. He was jealous too, but was never aggressive with this. He was a little sook (well, a big one ha !) This was the reason I wanted one. So I could give him all the love and attention he deserves, but try and train him well with it. I have no children, so right now he is getting some proper bonding sessions with me.

Good stuff, I'm very jellous , he was all I ever wanted in a dog and it was sickening to see him go , but I'm afraid the risk was just too great and one we were'nt about to take ... he went to a good home, not a rescue, and I spoke with the owners from time to time to see how he was, tho couldnt bring myself to take them up on their offer of going to see him, that would of been more than I could cope with
Enjoy your beautiful companian

The saying is true .. a Dog is a mans best friend ! But I guess you did the right thing, albeit the hardest, by the sounds of it. ><

Just a little tip...socialise him as much as you possibly can, with animals and people. Try to introduce him to children of all ages early.

Agree this is very important. Try to introduce him to as many types of people and animals as you can as often as you can.

Re: New to the forum - English Bull Terrier Owner.
Ah we have plenty of children in the family so he always gets a fuss made of him when they come down almost every day.
He had his first contact with dogs on the weekend, I took him up to my sisters (she is a breeder) for the day with me. He settled in with the 2 house dogs brilliantly ! Although the mail House Dog didn't like him as he never likes a fuss. Put him out in the garden with all the pupps and my god they made a fuss of Monty, he didn't know what to do with himself, but I was pleased to see he was cool, calm and collective (and very cuddly, although he was trying to cuddle in with Albert the house dog - Bishon Frische but all he did was growl at Monty .. !). Earlier that morning I took him to the pet shop where he got scrammed by a cat .. so his first 2 encounters of real animals and he was fine lol
Pics / Vids to follow later !
