Saffy puppy stages
HI Everyone,

For example: Sookie is now 14 weeks and getting a little disobedient ( ) is this a normal at this age for them to start doing this? she has also started the play growling with other dogs and some are not fond of this...
She has been so good and sitting etc
Im just looking at say a time line of what to expect at what age...(roughly)
Thanks
Sookies Mum

They are like little children at this age, just be consistent and firm with your training and the benefits will soon show, a frirm no and then ignoring her will pay off. Good luck

She should start teething in a couple more weeks. Have plenty of chew toys and frozen treats ready. A kong placed in the freezer filled with treats works wonders.
She will also have a teenage phase when she is around a year or so where she will be rebellious and thinks she knows everything.

Re: Saffy puppy stages
They are a very strong willed breed, which IMO is a big part of the reason for so many ending up in rescue homes , some people just arnt ready to deal with the amount of time it takes in the first year to bring up a healthy, happy pup!
Its bloody hard work at times! and at 14wks you deffo still have the worst to come lol , but be patient, stay in control (which sometimes might make you feel a bit cold hearted) but you'll reap the benefits later ... remember, a naughty puppy can soon become a naughty 20kg puppy, with a head like a brick
So be firm, but just as important is to enjoy her, she wont be a little pup for long and you'll never get this time back ... and you'll end up with the most rewarding, devoted companian you could ever wish for

Re: Saffy puppy stages
Thanks Andy,
She has a wonderful nature, and has been socialised since she was 8 weeks.
The teething has started and i have lamb bones for her when I'm out.
I'm very lucky she isn't a chewer on furniture or cables.
She goes to the dog park every day in the morning and in the late afternoon.
Sookie has her friends there, and there are many variety of dogs there too. I had a number of staffy owners say I wish my dog was like your dog. Which makes me a proud mum.
We are getting there with the toilet training, she only goes on the puppy pads if she needs to go now.
So im expecting the next stage is teenage rebellion
