All dogs are different. They usually grow in height the first year or so and then in width for the next year. Not to sure with the head growth though.

Hiya and welcome Smile There heads don't split its just muscle formation. As said above this can vary and take years. I still see Moo developing her muscle tone and she is nearly 3.

Any pics Smile

The shape of the head does change later on in development but you can tell a dog that will have a nice well developed head from when its young Smile

Welcome aboard!

Their heads don't "crack" their jaw muscle develops and makes that shape. Saxon was probably 8 or 9 months when his muscles started to develop more. The saying goes that they grow "up" for the first year and "out" until age two or three.

Hi and welcome. Tyson is 14 months and his head is still changing. He seems to be getting broader and stronger in his cheeks now which results in his snout looking shorter.

Welcome Smile

As been said, there heads dont "split", and their jaws dont "lock" .... I've heard both a million times and neither are true ... the furrow down the centre of the head is just where the jaw muscles from left and right side come togther, so it is just the development of these muscle groups that deturmines the overall head shape, and to some degree the size

Thanks Wazza now I understand. I've never heard the term "head splitting", (sounds terrible at first glance). Surprised

Yep, thats what I meant. Gentle games of tug, nothing to hard, obviously it a pup, or firm toys that puppy has to work to get into.
