Fearful energy
Knowing that previously friendly dogs can turn dog aggressive during their ‘teens’, I have been getting more and more fearful of Tyson turning aggressive. So much so that I found myself being really tense and wound up when visiting the dog park. Since I am a firm believer that this negative/fearful energy would be picked up and possibly cause the thing I fear most, I kept Tyson on lead for the last week or so even when his friends where there. It was hard to keep him in check as he was desperate to join in the fun and games but eventually he would relax and sit or lie quietly beside me while I chatted to the other owners.
On Saturday, after a long walk and giving myself a stern pep talk on relaxing, I took him to the park and let him of leash. It seems that the on leash visits have had a positive effect. He played well with all the dogs and came to me when I called him (which I did if I didn’t like the other dogs posture or if I thought he was playing too rough). In fact he behaved like a star! I am so pleased with him.

Don't get worried about something that "might" happen. There's no point, just keep him socialised.

Re: Fearful energy
well done Tyson! To be honest after months and months of going on about how fantastic Kaos is with other dogs it seems something is changing. Since i left him at vets to have his tumor removed and another dog had a pop at him when i wasnt there he seems a tad ummmm funny with other dogs. Only when he is on the lead but even still.....he is completley fine same as he ever was off lead but i think i will have to be sure 2 start watching body lanuage as ive got a bit lax as he has always been so good

Re: Fearful energy
A concern for us as well. We usually only let Suki off leash with the dogs she knows and are very aware of body language when introducing a new dog.
It helps if you walk them, if possible before introducing them to new dogs so they don't have excess energy.

Re: Fearful energy
I can only go by my experience but good dogs that turn aggresive are few and far between having a pop and being da is a bit different.
My case is Ive always known from being a small puppy there has always been little signs that he was not tolerating play at all well .
Because of the nature of my other girl they have always got on but Id never attempt to add another to our family.
I have refused to let that effect walks and he has a very successful career behind him and you do learn to cope with it .
But I dont think you have anything to worry about your boy is listening to you and it sounds like you know what your doing well done tyson your a star
