We went to Melbourne for the weekend to go to Luna Park (fun park) and do some shopping, so we left Russell in the good hands of my parents. This was the first time he has had a night with out us since we got him, and he needs to get used to it because in January when we go to Africa it will be almost a whole month with out us
any way, mum messaged me a few times to let me know he was having fun swimming and at night he was relaxed on the bed with their dogs she also sent me a txt saying "Russell snores... A LOT!" haha
so anyway, the time came to put the dogs to bed, they sleep in a pen outside with a huge communal Kennel or outdoor beds to choose from, we put Russ's bed up there too. thought he'd be fine with the other 2 dogs and snuggle with them but apparently he barked flat out until 2am and then stopped, in the morning dad got up and found russell waiting at the back door (he'd obviously escaped the pen)
Im thinking the only way he could have got out is over the gate, but he must have climbed it because its about 1.5m tall. the rest of the fencing is over 2m around...
anyway, this is a little concerning for when family look after him in January, might have to tie him up when they work through the day, because while their fences are secure... it seems Russell might try anything :S

Re: escape artist
My lot can jump about 4-5 feet without a run at it, but perhaps instead of teathering him where he could become entangled perhaps you could get a roofing or fencing roof for the enclosure.
