Can't stand the dentist but I appear to have broken a wisdom tooth in half. Didn't even notice till last night . I hate the dentist with a passion. Not a happy bunny!

Re: Dentist @ 9
Oh, sorry for you Janey. so it's recommended you get all 4 wisdom teeth out at once?
We're all different, and I had my wisdom teeth out one at a time under local anaesthetic; they were little and chalky and crumbly and better out than in, but as they were taken out over a few months it wasn't bad at all (even in the olden days with an NHS dentist!)
The trouble with wisdom teeth is, as I'm sure your dentist told you, is that Mother Nature decided way back that we needed extra teeth when we were grown up, for some unknown reason. Unfortunately Evolution got in the way and made our jaws smaller, so that when these teeth come through they are often badly constructed, and/or bang into the existing teeth and cause trouble. They are an anachronism, an aberration of nature, like appendixes and dew claws on dogs.
tbh if it was me and the other 3 wisdom teeth are not causing any trouble at the moment (if ever) I'd go for having the one troublesome tooth extracted under a local anaesthetic, and deal with the others similarly if they ever cause trouble.
It's your call - they're your teeth!
Good luck Janey

Ah Janey!
Even if it came to root canal treatment, it's not that vile (sorry Hayley! just my experience). I've had several, and after the initial injection the worst thing was keeping my mouth open for a fairly long time (it makes the jaws ache)
I know you hate us all, but honestly just get rid of the effing thing. It serves no useful purpose and if it is breaking it is not fit for purpose and causing you pain. What's the choice - constant pain or 5 minutes whilst it's whipped out under local anaesthetic? I'll come along and hold your hand if you want (there's an offer I don't often make!)
As for the other 3 wisdom teeth, if they're not bothering you leave them alone until and unless they do.

Lynda, my 2 top ones where filed as they came through, they grew with holes, now the filing has broken on 1 and the dentist has agreed we will prolong it as its only half the filling that has come out. So for the next months I will be ok.......but eventually its imminent and they want to do all 4 as 2 are crap anyway and I don't want my bite to be messed up.
I still don't wanna and yes you can hold my hand please, thank you XxXx

Re: Dentist @ 9
OK Janey, all your wisdom teeth are crap (like most wisdom teeth for most of us) and need to be got rid of. They are useless, troublesome anachronisms.
I'm not a dentist of course (if I were I would be rolling in money!) but I honestly would prefer (if it were me) to get each one extracted individually under local anasthetic as and when they proved troublesome, rather than the whole lot in one go under GA. I would honestly doubt that losing 1, 2, 3 or 4 wisdom teeth will mess up your bite, even if you habitually chomp up your food right at the back of your jaws.
As I said, your teeth - your choice. And if you want me there to grab your hand, just let me know!
