Lotties assessment
took Lottie for her assessment at the training centre. we saw the bahaviourist who asked us Lotties what her story is and what we know. we told her everything and how she has been while she has been with us what has improved and what hasnt. she sat looking at her all the time and told us a few things about her and how to help her.
the pink colour of her ears pads round her nose and especialy the eyes are all classic signs of a high adrenaline rush. she ran her through some exercises and the results were heart breaking. Lottie is living on pure adrenalin and fear and the loving girl we see is trying very hard to be good and to be nice so we will love her and keep her because she doesnt want to be passed around again. Lottie needs help and she has been crying out for it
the way to HELP her is not by basic training like sit and stay etc which we can do with her as we go throuhg the paces with Lemmy but with behavioural training and conditioning. so we were told what to do and it starts now.
the trainer asked what we had been doing with her since we got her and when we told her she said we had started it off right with all the new places and situations and we will just build on it over the next few months before we even think of normal training classes. she has actualy said as well that lemmy will be good for her with his confidence and loving nature. oh and she is staffy boxer cross. knew she had something else there

Re: Lotties assessment
Bit of an insight. Lottie will settle, and I like the basic training, as long as its fun, its interaction, learning does build trust

Re: Lotties assessment
Agree with Janey on the basic training. They need mental stimulation to settle as well. Just keep the sessions short and always end on a high note. It might help to do them right after exercise so Lottie is a bit calmer.
The behaviourist makes an excellent point on conditioning being of the utmost importance. They really do need to be able to release their energy every day.

Awww, i'm sure she'll come along great with all of your love and devotion to her. >< Great that the trainer has given you more of an idea what to work on.

It sounds like you have already helped her so much and it must be so good getting pointers on how to keep moving forward with it. she will soon realise that she is with you to stay ><

Oh, poor little girl! Thank goodness she's found you. I'm sure that very soon she'll start to see that she's now safe & 'home' for life.

Re: Lotties assessment
Makes me so happy to hear Lotties progress, when you think a month ago she didnt have anyone to understand her and she was all alone and frightened. Look at the opportunity you've given her, bet she never thought she could be so loved and cared for!
