Re: Should I get another Staffy?
hia from me and sasha,we have sasha who is 7 now and back in the summer my son and his girl friend that live with us got a male, alfie when he was 7 weeks old.sasha was used to getting all the attention and im not going to pretend it was easy cos it was a nightmare at times, give the older dog space so she can get away from the pup if she finds it a bit much, dont leave them alone and give it time,it took sasha a good few weeks to tolerate him, even now she likes time out from him, that was just sasha your dog might be different, good luck on double trouble!

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
Hi and welcome from us and Suki.
Opposite sexes tend to get along better. If you are going to do it introduce them outside of the home first and don't leave them alone unsupervised.

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
I would never recomend getting 2 of the same sex as jstaff says opposites usually get on better but there are people on here who have multiple dogs and they can prove it does work but I cant recomend as if it didnt work out for you then it would be heartbreaking to have to rehome a loving family pet

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
Thankyou for all the comments I decided to get in touch with a dog behaviourist from Staffy Rescue that I have dealt with in the past ad she advised me that its not such a good idea as my wee Roxy can be very anxious at times and is very much used to her own space. Also that 2 bitches might not work So rather than get the pup and maybe have to rehome her in a years time ive decided 1 is plenty at the moment

I think u have made the right decision! Staffs do tend 2 be happier as only dogs anyway

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
I have two female staffs and the oldest is 14 and the youngest is 2 today. My older girl has lived with a doggy partner 85% of her life so even though it was a worry to bring home a pup early last year, we did as she was seriously suffering from separation anxiety as we'd just lost her partner of 6 years).
I'm not sure if I will make the same decision when life changes, as it will, but I think one thing that worked in our favour was the age difference and my older girls temperament as she is very tolerating.

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
hi and welcome i think same sex can work i have 2 staffys both female who are so cute together its unreal!! they would defend each other to the end and spend many a night curled up close snoring with each other lol it all depends on the older dog i was quite lucky as daija was only 6 months when roxi came and they are now inseperable

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
Hi and welcome.
I see that you have decided not to get another staffy at the moment. We have a 12 year old desexed male staffy Jethro who I love more than life itself. Now this doggie means everything to me and my hubby..he is our 4 legged child, and we wanted to get another staffy as lets face it Jethro isn't getting any younger and we are going to be cot cases when he goes. So we thought if we get another dog if wouldn't be maybe quite so bad.... so we picked Winston ( another male ) and the 2 boys get on so well together ...but we never leave them alone together if we aren't home as now Winston at 8 months is so big and strong and powerful he could really do some unintentional damage to Jethro. Winston is getting desexed next week anyway, but in our case 2 dogs, of the same sex, have worked out great. Like Lee's Kita above though, Jethro has always had a gentle nature and gets on with other dogs..even cheeky puppies!!

Re: Should I get another Staffy?
Also just to point out its not till the dogs hit maturity at around 3 years that u find out wether or not u have a real problem or not. So my dogs for example who are 1 and 2 who get on well now may not be so great in a years time.....but only time will tell
