I`m finding it verry hard to get our pup to even think about the lead she will wear her collar ok tries to get it of but other than that she's fine its when you combine the lead with the collar she goes mental she really dose despise it

i have been gently leading her about the house with her lead on but she pulls back in fear i dont want to spook her to much i would also like to say its not a choker i uttery hate those i might try a harness if i can get one to fit her

any ideas ?

Try letting her wear it in the house more often. When she starts to go somewhere on his own pick up the lead and follow. This should help her get used to it.

Agree let her just pull the lead around, until she can do this I wouldn't even hold it. Just let her wonder around the house dragging it for now, and when she is more comfortable then start to handle it too Xx

You can just tie a piece of rope or heavy string to the collar to simulate a lead Big Grin Suki was okay with the collar but went crazy the first time we used a harness. She would spin around in circles trying to rip it off. She slowly got used to it and yours will too over time. Leaving on in the house helps speed the process along.

How old is she?

Like everyone else says, let her drag the lead around, or attach a piece of string/thin rope to the collar until she's used to it, then pick the end of the lead/rope up & follow her around with it. Once she's used to that you can add a little pressure to the lead and walk the other way. Try walking backwards at first, and calling her in a really silly, playful way & as soon as she comes your way give her loads of fuss.

She really will get used to it, but it might take a bit of patience! Big Grin

i left her lead on most of today i also picked up a small harness and i have to say she is much more calm with the harness on she still has her collar on but i was using the harness to take her for walks ( in the house ) she was not as agitated she was a little spooked but alot better than she was with the collar/lead i think it might be down to when she pulled away the collar choked her although its not a choker chain its a nylon one it might have been scaring her
