its nearly time..................
.....................for bonfire night and all the fireworks (and if its anything like every other year they will start going off well before Nov 5th)!
Was at the vets earlier and they were trying to sell me some new brand of herbal calming tablets ready. As i was away last year and Woody was in kennels i have no idea how he will react-i just hope he isnt a quivering wreck like my previous staffy Tessa.
How do yours all react and what methods do you use for bad reactions?

We have been having fire works for a while now Harvey isn't bothered but Chance runs round the house trying to find where the noise is coming from but isn't to bad.

Bandit used to be a quivering wreck, but he was the only dog I've had that reacted really badly. We used to get some tranquilisers from the vets every year. The herbal ones are better nowadays, though.
Dempsey takes no notice.........no brain, you see!

Dempsey's been humping cushions! Yes, I know I love him, but that's despite the cushions!

If you try to act normally & don't fuss him, hopefully he'll not take too much notice.

Weve had a few fireworks go off tonight, Sophie just gave a couple of woofs and carried on chewing on her bone.

Tara was terrible. It used to break our hearts. She would literally sit under you and I mean by force. That and piddle and poop

My two staffys haven't been through it yet as they were only about 2 months old last time My 14yr old is terrified and for the last 12yrs she has gone to stay at her dog walkers farm to avoid the noise .One of my parrots loves the bangs and flashes, she sits going "whoooooooo".

Suki is okay as long as we are around. She will give a couple of barks and then come running for a cuddle

Re: its nearly time..................
i'm wondering how Mambo will react. he heard fireworks before and he was just surpised and barked few times, that's all. but I'm sure there will be much more noise on bonfire night... we would like to go on the hills to watch, but i'm afraid we will have to stay home and make sure he's OK...
Re: its nearly time..................
I'm hoping Bella will be ok with them. Millie has always been fine, she is usually at the window watching them with me and my daughter.

I'm not looking forward to this year, Lola was a pup last year and was either asleep or just not bothered. But she has heard a few already and doesn't like it at all, so I'm dreading it.
What is the best thing to do if they are afraid?

They started here Friday having Ledger in the car with me at the time was not good he went crazy leaving it very difficult to ignore him in that situation
I usually leave him at home when I'm on nights as he just curls up and sleeps through but with the kids being on half term this week I'm not sure whether leaving him for the next two nights will be a good idea :S

Re: its nearly time..................
I have no idea how Tinkerbell will react as we didn't have her last year. We are going to see and hear a fair few living up on top of this hill. We have had a few already and she hasn't really bothered with them, so fingers crossed she should be fine.
My last dog used to have to be walked in the dark as he wouldn't toilet in the garden, and we were all out at work etc in the day. He had to be kept on a lead though because whenever he heard a noise, he would leg it back home and wait by the back door for us to arrive....after we had spent ages searching and calling for him!
