She is our baby lol .... We got her for free off facebook buy swap sell group for local area .… she 10 months old … owners had to give her up as they had another Staffy they didnt get along as she got older …

Just so you know there is no "American Staffordshire Bull Terrier" or "English Staffordshire Bull Terrier" the two breeds you are referring to are actually called the American Staffordshire Terrier and the Staffordshire Bull Terrier.

they shouldn't really call them english staffordshire bull terrier because you will confused people.

i cant really remember what this stat was but alot of people from oz was posting it on our facebook wall

did you know per year there are 300 or so dog attack by staffy

american staffordshire terrier 10 attack
english staffordshie bull terrier 1 attack
staffordshire bull terrier 289 attack

this is the main reason you shouldn't do it

Problem is Media (tv + newspapers) is getting wrong .. there classing Pit Bull terrier as staffordshire ... or there cross breeds with Pit Bull ...

Bottom line, the proper breed name is Staffordshire Bull Terrier. As for AmStaffs, as far as I'm concerned, they ARE Pit Bulls. The AmStaff and the APBT are such similar breeds that in the US there are many dogs dual registered as AmStaffs in the AKC and APBTs in the UKC. That tells me that there are more similarities between the breed than differences.

Hey Bones I just noticed you live in Mount Gambier..I lived in Naracoorte for about 5 years in the early 70's !! It's a small world indeed!! We often went to Mt Gambier for Sunday drives... love the place. In fact a few years back when I came over to SA to see my family ( they all live in Adelaide now ) I borrowed my brother's car and me and my hubby Tony and Jethro spent a few days in Mt Gambier as I wanted to show Tony where I had lived as a kid.. we walked around the Blue Lake at night, and checked out some of the amazing sink holes.. Tony got bitten by a possum at the one in the middle of town!! Laughing

People are going to think there are going to be 2 different type of staffordshire bull terrier the english vision and the staffy vision. that why people shouldn't, just like the bull terrier people call it english bull terrier which is wrong.

The English Bull Terrier is a completely different breed from the Staffordshire Bull Terrier. An other example of the confusion it causes if you call the breeds by the wrong names...

Hi Catstina, I think I might have added to the confusion a bit there. I wasn't meaning Staffordshire Bull Terriers. Just that I had grown up calling Bull Terriers (like Caryll's Dempsey) English Bull Terriers and had no idea that was the wrong name for the breed Smile

That isn't the wrong name for the breed! There is a breed called the English Bull Terrier (Like Caryll's Dempsey) and there is a breed called the Staffordshire Bull Terrier (Like most of the other dogs on this forum). The confusion on this thread is that some individuals are incorrectly calling Staffordshire Bull Terriers "English Staffordshire Bull Terriers" which is confusing and just plain wrong.

I think and Caryll will correct me if i'm wrong the proper name for a dog like Dempsey id just a Bull Terrier not English Bull Terrier but it is most commonly known as an English bull terrier

But Catstina is correct there is no English Staff just a Staffordshire bull terrier the world over

hey speak for yourself. I don't get confused by it, but I do understand now that 'english' isn't part of the breed, I also didnt know American Staffordshire Terriers didn't have the 'bull' in the name before I came on this forum, ignorant people would be confused, but generally I used to stay Russell was an 'english staffy' because I didnt want people to think he was American.

but yes! I know the true breed name and now I use that and explain it to people!

Most dogs are at least slightly overweight these days. People have become so used to seeing overweight dogs that when they see a fit dog they think it is underweight.

Great photos, but I agree with the comment of her being slightly overweight. One way to tell this is that you should see a waist line, which you can't really see on Kiesha. She is a very muscular dog, I agree with that, but she could also do with loosing a few pounds!

Im not trying to be funny I just worry about the strain on their hearts, I would say the same thing too anyone. In my eyes even my skibby doo-dahs is a bit podgy at the moment and she only weighs 16.7 kg (though it should be nearer 16kg).
