Help needed!!! Empty Help needed!!!

Post by hopefulnewowner Sun Oct 09 2011, 19:35

Hi,

We're in need to some help/advice, due to mine and my partners current work situation we are having to relocate to Norfolk where we are both guarnteed permanent employment. Our problem is that we have Jess who obviously we want to keep, but due to moving into my parents home for 6 months we are unable to take her with us as they already have 2 dogs of their own.

We would ideally like to have someone look after her for us until we could get our own place, and then have her back. She is a rescue dog and at the time we got her we never thought that this sort of situation would occur.
she is insured and we would pay for all her vet fees and food etc.

PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE, If there is anyone who has any advice as to what we can do it would be much appriciated she is part of our family and we really don't want to lose her.

Thanks

Gemma and Mike.

Parents arn't allowing it. We've begged and pleaded but to no avail. Asked friends in the area all have declined due to own commitments but we know of one person Gemma's mum knows who is looking for a female staffy and it's just a case of trying to get hold of her to see if she'll take Jess in for a few months. We've also contacted local kennels for advice who we're still waiting for to get back to us. The ideal situation is to find a foster carer till we find ourselves a new home in the area. The last thing we want is to get rid of her and we will be exploring all avenues till we find the ideal sitution and we will keep going till the end.

We've heard of 2 dog charities in the East Anglia/London areas that can provide foster care for dogs:

http://care-uk.com/index.html

http://www.alldogsmatter.co.uk/

Plus we've contacted the kennels that we put her in when we go away as the owers are avid staffy lovers
http://www.pineviewfarm.co.uk/Kennels.htm
Just seriously hopeing that these can help.

What a difficult situation, i wish I could help more. I am sure you can find a solution, even if it is a kennal, at least if its local you can walk her and have unlimited access until you have a place. Hopefully you can find a foster though first Xx

As posted above mate Gemmas parents won't allow it. We're currently emailing every kennels and services that provide foster care for dogs in th East Anglia area to see if any can help out. Big problem is aswell is non of my family will take her in here in Liverpool and being honest in a way we don't want to rehome her up here as there's too many IDIOTS like the people who abandoned her in the first place.

Everythings just happened so fast only just found out about the job (caring for people with Downs Syndrome) and with the fact that my contract is up in my current job at the end of October we can't turn the job offer down so it's left us in an awkward situation as we have to organise moving from Liverpool to Norfolk, finding our own place and now we have to sort care out for Jess as up to now no one that we know will take her in. at wits end

Try contacting this place they may be able to help. They are at East Winch near Kings Lynn Norfolk. If they cannot help they may know who can.

http://www.rspca-eastwinch-wildlifecentre.co.uk/

Good luck. Please don't give up.

PS.. Have you tried contacting your new employers and explaining the situation. Maybe someone there could help??

Can you rent a place or a caravan to live in to keep the dog with you rather than stay at your parents and be without the dog

it's a difficult situation or see if the dog can live at your parents for 2 weeks and see how it goes

Good idea thank you! We've contacted 15 places in the area up to now just waiting for replies! Spoke to someone in work this morning who use to work for dogs trust here in Liverpool and said they should be able to help which is good news!

We are Marty but everyone we are going through won't allow pets and there's also the case of getting the £ together for the deposit etc! We're even registered with all the councils down there but we are current so far back in the priority banding that we have no hope atm! Asking parents is a no go I'm afraid! We've begged and pleaded already!

As for a caravan good idea I'll have to mention that to the other half! \\\\\\\\m/

A caravan would be ideal (ok , not long term, the size would drive you insane!) but it could help short term.

Wish I could help more, it's a very difficult situation for you & I can appreciate that you're tearing your hair out trying to find a solution.

Jess is adorable, by the way! Love Struck

Most places have got back to us now and have said no but it's not all doom and gloom! Pine veiw kennels in Norfolk are looking into what they can do for us. Had a feeling they'd consider it as they are avid staffy lovers and the owner of the place has about 9 staffys of her own Straight Face and Gemmas mum is speaking to a friend who happens to be looking for a female staffy, so were going to see if she would like to look after Jess for a while. So keeping fingers crossed Cool

Bit closer to having something sorted for Jess! Pineview kennels have rallied around and got in touch with someone who deals with finding foster homes for dogs! Just spoke to her and she's speaking to somebody today who was going to foster a Shar pei but luckily it was recently found a new home! But if not there's no disper as they are going to carry on looking for us till something is sorted! \\\\\\\\m/

Yes really excited but nervous at the same time! We both can't wait to go! No disrespect to Liverpool as a city as it's fantastic but in Norfolk it's a completely different way of life! Wasn't ment to be going until summer next year but unfortunitely my contract ends in my job at the end of this month, although it's looking likely to be extended the job owe've been offered is decent money and too good to turn down so we've been left in a bit of a pickle regarding finding somewhere to live and with Jess! Sure it'll all turn out fine in the end!

Once again thanks for your help everyone!

I'm glad to say we have a conclusion for the saga with Jess! Gemmas Nan is going to have her for us as she want's the companionship! The only problem is that she is hitting 90 years old in January! Don't get me wrong she's very well for her age but it was either let her look after Jess or the stubborn woman was going to go out and get her own dog (which would have been good but it's her age why her family are against her having pets), so we're going to let her look after Jess to keep her happy!
