Hi, I am from Russia. I want to buy a blue-colored Staffordshire Bull Terrier, but there is an opinion that blue color is a cause of calvities, or may increase the probability of calvities. Please share the information on this issue. Maybe there are CDA stats for blue and other colored Staffies. If my concerns about blue color are groundless, please recommend blue Staffy breeders in Europe.

Why do you particularly want a blue Stafford?

You're right that blues do suffer more from allergies & Colour Dilution Alopecia. I do not know any reputable blue breeders in the UK.

Unfortunately breeding to obtain the blue colour has led to alot of health problems, the worst being generations of blue bred onto blue.
I know of a few blue breeders in Europe but none are reputable because of the breeding practices above …
I would even venture to add that alot of people are looking for, and breeding from, dogs that are tested clear of the dilution gene altogether

Thank you for your responses. This information is very important to me. I'm thinking what color of staffy should I get. Blue staffys are very rare in Russia, so I want a blue. But health is much more important than color. I collect information before making a decision.

I can understand your temptation for a rare blue staffy but at the moment, it’s difficult to find anything without blue in recent generations here
