Naming your new pup

Would you insist on being able to name your new pup or would you be happy to entrust the breeder to choose ?

I got to name Nifty but Opium had already been registered with her name when she joined the family.
However, it would seem that alot of breeders here reserve the right to name the pups in a litter and IMHO, not always with alot of taste

“Pepper Beautifull Ass”
“Risk Gaz Factory”
“S’kill Bill Sexy Baby”

I mean, really ?!!

We were sort of given a choice. The breeder's Affix would obviously be part of it & we were given 4 or 5 names to go with it. We chose Hardy (after Laurel & Hardy) as he was going to be a big boy!

Obviously, the pet name was totally down to us!

We rescued Katy at 6wks! Obviously not from a reputable breeder as he gave her to his niece at 5wks old! They named her Roxy but we thought it didn't suit her!
I know of breeders that use a letter for each litter & you pick a name that starts with it, I could possibly agree with that but I honestly think the pup will determine the name from their character

I agree that pet name will be determined by the pup and that registered name can have breeder’s prefix or suffix but I’ve seen some really crazy and downright offensive names.

I thought that the KC didn't allow offensive names? Or do you just mean pet name?
