CLOSURE OF THE FORUM

GUTTED is all I can say, really sorry that you're having to shut things down - I did notice that each time I've been on here there are barely more than 1 or 2 others at the same time.

Sad day, was really hoping to get to know everyone and meet up at shows, walks etc etc.

I know it'll be missed but I also know that it takes time and effort to run these boards so 100% appreciate why you're closing the book.

Sad, but can't you just keep it going. Is it costing you any money to run the forum? If not, just let it stay open. Just my opinion. This is a great forum.

It costs nothing but time, but the time it costs is not justified by the amount of traffic. You can't have a forum that is not moderated (to remove inappropriate posts, step in if discussions go awry, etc.) so we have to check it, between us several times a day. We also have to respond to questions received through the 'contact' button. So I'm afraid just letting it stay open unmoderated and without an Admin team is not an option.

The thought did cross my mind, but didn't want to tread on anyones' proverbial toes as I've only been here 5 minutes.

I'd be happy to give it a go, I work from home a lot and am always on the net - would anyone be staying on from the existing moderators at all? Never done this type of thing before so it'd be great to have some help Wink

Nifty hasn't been on since earlier in the month. The trouble is there is not much activity on here, as admin I come on at least 3 times a day & i'm the only one on here. Newbies sign on & ask a question & we don't hear from them again. Photos always got a good response but if your lucky 2 people may comment Rolling Eyes

If the forum was more active I would give it a go as the new admin Surprised

I'm in and willing to help - Gillys' comment sounds good too..? As do all the further posts - the recent increase in activity could be a knee jerk reaction of course BUT for what it's worth I think this is a great forum and it's the only dedicated one out there...

On here most says at some point even if only to see what's happening or post more photos etc.

I’ve been coming here for years this is a fantastic forum. Think I have been a member since about 2011. It is only now that I am in a position to where I have my own Stafford now.

Hi all, new member and first time SBT (very proud)owner. I have found the forum to be very helpful. I think the “problem” with no new post is all the amazing advice given to previous posts. You will always find an answer to a question without having to post yourself, myself included. So, even if it has been asked before, ask again. That’s my plan anyway

Thats a very valid point Jess if people can find the answer they are looking for in past posts then no new ones will be being added. I as one of the oldest members on here will do my best to help it keep going as long as poss xx

So I was about to post some concerns as a new topic but then came across this thread...

Its super quiet here isnt it! Where's everyone gone? Theres normally so much to catch up on of an evening but theres no new threads?

I agree with what Archie&Jess are saying... theres some amazing advice on here so guests find their answers without even having to post.... we need new ways to keep the forum alive and kicking...

Correct me if im wrong, but the last post on the Facebook group was April 2019? How come this isnt still being pushed? Is there anything on Instagram that directs guests to the forum?

Kita, I was put up as admin just before Lizp left. Ian showed me how to do the Facebook but every time I tried I was marked as top fan rather than admin! I think Steve the creator of this site is the only person who can authorise me to do it!
I don't know anything about Instagram as I don't use it!
I come on at least twice a day but quite often there is nothing new to look at Rolling Eyes

Ahh okay, i sense opportunity here!

When I was mod, i used to post on the facebook page and kept an eye on it along side others, you don't need to be labelled at admin to do that. Just having the access to moderate is fine; delete inappropriate posts, block trolls etc. Do you need any more mods to help drive FB?

Instagram... I can help there... I can set up a page using the same format as facebook, so posting piks regularly and directing followers to the forum. Its pretty easy really.... thoughts?

Wheres Steve at? Has he passed this over then?

Just came across this post, I hope the forum doesn’t get shut down it’s super helpful.. I think a lot of the times people don’t want to post simply because whatever they want to ask is already somewhere in the posts so they don’t want to be annoying asking the same things. I know that’s what’s stopping me from posting 20 posts a day

Does this group have an Instagram?? I made one for Luna for fun, great way to share and store videos and pics of her.

As for the comment on not wanting to post what might already have been asked, I’d say to post anyways. Sometimes original posts can be older and things/points of view can have changed in the mean time.
And most important of all, there’s never a stupid question so ask away ! Wink

Instagram is up and running.... StaffyNiceboard.
I've simply copied and pasted the about section as our first post. I'll only use the piks from the admins and mods unless I get authorisation from guests otherwise. I'll use the same format as Facebook and guide the users to the forum in each post. Are you happy for me to take piks from Facebook?

We really need to keep posts fresh, repeat topics from the past, post in the diary once in a while, upload vids. We can get this back up and running if everyone does their bit.

Jen/inez, can we add something to the welcome post to ask where they head about us; word of mouth, Facebook, Instagram etc to give us indication what socials working most. Someone really need to gain access to Facebook posts. Theres 84,000 followers and nothing new since April 19'!! Can someone post on there the Instagram induction... that would be a great boost

Feeling super positive we can push this whilst we have the time on our hands!!

I am happy for you to take pics from FB and do what is needed I am technically very dumb with things like this! I will have a look on insta as am on there but cant post pics as I only use from a laptop. Yes an intro would be fine I cannot get into the FB page myself as forgot my password for allowing anything Ian would probably know but he hasnt been on for sometime I will have a look and see if I can help x
