We adopted Suzie a week ago - everything going really well, but she gets really distressed after we've left. We left her for 2 hours today and look what happened! Any advice? We took her to the vet and they gave us some Zyklene capsules to try. We've also ordered a Thundershirt which is arriving o Monday.

Really concerned for her.

Don't panic, separation anxiety is quite common and there are things you can do to help. As well as the thundershirt/DAP/Zyklene, it's also worth leaving a voice/classical music radio on.

There is also training work you can do. Have a read through this, it should give you some ideas.

While you're training, try and leave Suzie for the shortest periods possible. If you get the training right and hopefully avoid her getting into such a high stress state, it could go fairly quickly.

Good luck!

How is Suzie getting on? Did the thundershirt help?
