First night nerves... Empty First night nerves...

Post by Angieeee Wed Feb 25 2015, 00:16

It's Ruby's first night with us and she's been an absolute delight so far today. She was snoring her head off earlier..had a little feed, play and has toileted 3 times in the garden. I've put her in her crate for bedtime and was expecting crying and howling and was going to bring her upstairs in her crate if she didn't settle. I've been laid listening to her crying for about 20 mins, while I read some posts in here to distract me. Now she's stopped whining and has probably fell asleep but I'm panicking now and am desperate to go check on her! I know she'll been fine but I'm worrying she's too good! Sorry just need some reassurance from someone Smile x

She will be fine. A blanket over the crate and a radio will help her settle

Theia is our second pup, but the first to be caged. We've never left a radio on or a piece of our clothes with either and we've never had a problem of them sleeping all night.
The trick is for you to get her timings right. Your pup needs 15/16 hours recharge, because that's what they're doing while sleeping, per day. You decide when these hours are to suit you pattern.

Ruby sounds like shes nailed it already! I always worry when my boys too quiet so I cant but help go check on him but when it comes to sleepy time, you just need to let them be when they whine for attention, they'll soon learn!

Thanks everyone she was fine and has been popping in her cage today so hopefully she'll settle quicker tonight. She's also had more poos and wees in the garden so she's doing so well.

aww I remember the first night nerves, it sounds like Ruby is going to be a good girl. My Roxy slept through the night from day 1, I still cant believe how lucky I have been with her. She loves sleep and loves her crate. Good Luck
