My pup turns into a nutter at night

Hey guys,

Does anyone else's puppy go crazy after dark. For some reason Roxy goes berserk after about 7ish in the evening, and it last for about an hour or two. She becomes Jaws seriously, biting and nipping, nothing calms her down. We try to turn her energy into good things i.e clicker training and fetch games etc..until she gets bored and starts biting again. I know this can be quite normal for animals, as my cat used to have a mad turn when she was much younger, but Roxy is like a crazy person (puppy) after dark!! Once we can start walking her I'm sure it'll get better.. well I hope so !

Im sure pretty much everyone on here can relate to this! I call it 'zoomies'. My pooch goes nuts around the house, its like an energy burst..running in circles, diving on and off the sofa, jumping in his toy box, barking, up and down the stairs! If anything i make the most of it encouraging it so he sleeps through the night!

I just cant wait Mia, she has all this energy and no way of releasing it as our house is pretty small. She gallops around like a pony, skidding around the corners.. It is funny to watch lol

Yes it sure does help them sleep, Roxy is zonked now..its slightly to early though, but I have an extra early start tomorrow so hopefully she will sleep through

Hi misty is 8 months now and has grown out of the mad hour at night. Good luck! I just used to put my legs up on the sofa out of the way until it ended!

Same with Harley! It started the past couple of nights in the evening he gets super giddy, starts running between all the corners of the room and attacking your feet and arms/diving on you. We've been leaving him to it for a bit to let him burn off some energy on his own and then getting involved with his toys!

Haha they are like children when they get over tired and just go hyper

Bane used to do this a lot as if he just didn't know what to do with himself! A few occasions he would nip so bad we tried putting him in his bed for a few minutes to calm down expecting him to be jumping the gate only to return to him fast asleep!

well last night was a lot better, she went utterly crazy for a while, but there was an animal programme on last night that she loved. She watched for about 20 mins and fell asleep in my lap.. so cute lol

sorry i remember those crazy nights ,a bit like a small child eating blue smarties,they do grow out of it,try playing some games with her to take her mind off the crazy hour!

pmsl mia was hyper at 3 but i did have a staffy pup i sadly had to give up due to starting work she was super hyper she wud sneak in the room under the covers and nibble your feet if u were asleep ud get a shock.

Haha yeap Ruby gets the zoomies at night time, she runs picks up say a sock we chase her she drops i then grabs something else and around and round we go LOL ... turns into a game then she does the big run around hyper as!!

glad howie isnt the only one, doesnt have to be night time can be anytime of the day he will go crazy for 10mins jumping around, nipping, wont listen and then he will jump onto you lap and crash, quite cute really

Very normal and should improve with walks

Aw so glad its not just us every night the lights go out we say bed she grabs a toy and starts going crazy then 1/2hr later shes cuddled up in her bed.

Its time for the hunt! Twighlight and they will go nuts, walk mine in the woods at this time they are super edgy. its a call to the wild
