I have found one!!!

I have finally found a rescue staffy, who is perfect for our family!! This is Bosley he will be coming to live with us from Thursday. Could do with some advice though, he has been at a rescue for a while and is caged quite a lot, he is very overweight, some helpful food and exercise tips would be much appreciated!! I will keep everyone updated with his progress xx

Start off with short walks and gradually increase the distance, I know it sounds so basic.

Do you know what he has been fed so far ? A good quality food will do wonders for his overall condition, a list of recommended foods below, could also add James Welbeloved to it:

Well done on finding him, he's a stunner! Long lines are great but we also use a flexi lead which is great to use one handed. I would also keep using a cage, at least for the time being. If you feed dry use some of his daily allowance for training.

The lady who I got him from runs a rescue centre from her home, she only feeds him food with no additives preservatives or flavourings but she has taken in 21 dogs who were due to be put to sleep so they are not getting enough exercise xx

Aww god love her people like this woman are invaluable i would do as above i havent much experience in crate training i detest them tbh . If i could id be like this woman and have hundreds of staffys and a giant house

Me too, he was great with other dogs wen we went on a walk today xx had a little hello sniff and then just went on his way xx

I feed my other dog tripe, cos she is fussy and loves it??! I hate it but do u think he will be ok on that xx

As said already a good quality food and plenty of exercise (built up gradually) will get him into condition in no time x

Massive congratulations and welcome from Oz and me. Oz was on some weird food when I git him but he us now in nature diet and was in great condition in a couple if weeks and we have never looked back
