Just measured loki and he's already 14.5 inches tall....now I'm panicking that he's gonna be taken off me if he gets above 16.... Stupid law

BSL...dictates that a staffordshire shouldn't be any taller than 16 inches...I know that loads of different things would have to factor in for him to be typed but since my friends court case I am terrified.

Stop reading it then  Big Grin

So long as your pet dog is well socialised and well behaved you have nothing to worry about.

Ahah!! My son was in bed and loki was asleep and someone commented on my photos asking what breed loki was because he looked too tall to be a staff and I'd have to be careful...so of course this sent me into panic mode...

yes but it's hard not to listen when one of the things that frightens me most in the world is someone could just come and take him from me.so yes in a moment of madness, I did listen.

Where did you read this information? I have never seen this before in the BSL. I know that it is the KC STANDARD that a staffy should be 14-16" tall at the withers, but have never seen this in the BSL (or am I looking in the wrong place?). If this is the case, then a lot of pure bred unregistered Staffies could be at risk from this stupid, unworkable piece of legislation.

Below is a link to the RSPCA's view point of the BSL. Makes interesting reading if you haven't seen it before.

When my friends dog was seized they measured him and told us that he was over 16 inches tall so they had to take him...so it's from experience and lots of court cases that I am terrified....I know that I am worrying for no reason, but one of the things that worries me most in the world is someone taking him from me.. So it really gets my back up when people comment and say things as it's hard not to listen

Freya love there are lots of dogs seized here in Liverpool (I'm just outside) and although Liverpool has fab parks I won't walk Darcy in them, it was here that they seized & killed 15+ Already exempted dogs who's owners had failed to re insure their 3rd party liability insurance, from looking at Loki he is nothing like type' in anyway shape or form but as you said they seize anything Stafford looking or type' looking even KC Registered dogs have been seized. IMHO if Loki is well behaved, socialised and well mannered then you won't have a problem. Xxxxx

Calm down first of all. As other members have said as long as he is well behaved and socialised there shouldn't be a problem. Here is a link to DDA watch which will tell you what to do if something happened. http://www.ddawatch.co.uk/
