help needed to put my wifes mind at rest

My wife took beau for a walk last night and when she returned she was up set because a man pulled her up saying have the police pulled you up with that dog thats a pitt bull my wife said no its not it a bull terrier x this said they've been on the tv about them dogs there evil and dangerous this really up up set my wife and shes sceard stiff that beau is a pit bull help needed please what do you think.

what idiots there are about , all i hear is people going up to staffy cross owners lately and saying the same thing ..your Beau is beautiful <3

Such idiots, it's funny how these people watch a tv programme and all of a sudden they are pit bull experts!!! yet many of them have never owned a dog. It's awful that he came over to her and upset her, but I guess you have to feel sorry for him cos he's ignorant and bought into the negative media so he will never know how funny and loving our dogs are, Beau is beautiful

i'm no expert .. but from what i've researched .. even i would not mistaken him for a pit-bull

i think if i were worried in a similar situation
i'd get a dna/geneology report done
and have a pic of a pit-bull handy on my mobile phone
2 things to show whoever might ask

think i saw a pit-bull recently .. although not sure and didn't ask
dog were muzzled .. and a.f.a.i.k. i think it's possible to have one in the u.k. but they must be registered / insured / and wear a muzzle at all times in public places ..
( only going by memory of something i saw on the tele not too long back .. i could be mistaken )

dog DNA is just a con imo becasue some breeds are to close related to get a right result.

No u can see in the face she's not a pitbull, but I can understand how scary it is, there are some spiteful people out there. She would have to fit all the measurements to be typed as pitbull anyways!!

Sorry to hear your wife was upset by one of the idiots that assume they know something when they clearly don`t.
I think most staffy owners have at some point been told or asked if there dog had pit in it. Beau is a very beautiful girl and does not look like a pit bull. I do understand how your wife feels when i was asked if Lula had pit in her it really annoyed and upset me. I was a little more annoyed as the person had a staff themselves and should of knew better. As i`ve watched Lula change over the months i now look at her and realize what a complete moron the person was. Please tell your wife to not let people like that get to her

Sorry, but the bloke is obviously a narrow minded bigot.  he saw your wife as an easy target to vent his spleen because she is plainly and simply a woman and he is nothing but a bully.  I bet he wouldn't have done it if you were out walking Beau.  Tell her a swift knee to the crotch often ends an argument in her favour......I'm joking here, but idiots like him are usually best ignored.  I hope she carried on walking away from the moron

No she doesnt look type at all mate. there are so many armchair experts out there its unreal. seems that any bully breed cross is either a pit or has pit in it from the point of view of these fools.
as Janey said, you will grow a thick skin and learn to just ignore it. when marley was a pup I was asked if he had pit in him!!!! now if you have seen any pics of him as a pup you would know how sad/laughable it is.
I also agree with Steve, I can see Mastiff traits in her and she is a beutifull dog
