My staffy keeps getting called a pitbull??

Hi there iv got a 3 and half year old called roxy an got a puppy hes four month old now to keep her company didn't want to introduce a adult dog as she has been spoiled rotten. A lot of people who see tyson say hes a pitbull and im really worried about the future any advise people on how I can tell plzzz?

Hi, you need to change your user name - email address is not a good idea. As being called a pitt as long as the dog is well behaved then you have no issues. Most likely a cross, any pics?

What country are you in ?.. If its the UK then it is very unlike ly to be a Pit. What is it that makes them think it could be a pit ? Is he just a large Staff or Staff X ?

Just seen your pics of the white one and certainly doesn't resemble any Pit that I have seen.

Having known a Pit in the USA, I'm pretty sure it isn't.

I work in a shop and coz hes a pup I take him to work with me its good for socialisation an people keep saying hes a pitbull I saw both parents when I got him but people keep saying his legs are too long and hes got too much skin behind his neck one of the people has got three champ staffys

I joined this site coz obviously peeps on here will know what they r on about any comments and knowledge would be much appreciated

He's not a pit type' IMO at all! He's a beautiful baby boy, they come in all different shapes and sizes and grow up until 2/3 years of age, you'll only know then his true size, there are lots of Staffords that are taller than breed standard but that doesn't make them type, it makes them tall lol! Xx

Pitbulls

He looks gorgeous As said they grow at all different rates and go through stages where their legs seem to long, or their ears are too big or even that they have excess fur to grow into. Hard to tell until they are fully grown, but he is lovely!

The last comment would negate him being a pit they were bred for fighting and therefore should have very tight features, lips eyebrows etc less to get hold of

He's a young pup and they all grow at different rates he will settle into his shape and start to fill out after a year or so when he won't look as leggy, Ledger was apparently 2 when I rescues him he is also quite leggy but filled out in his third year

Looks more Staffy than anything else to me too, do you have KC papers for the puppy, what is he/she registered as ?

He looks a lot like my last staffy girl did, she was very leggy and had a longer snout than most but again she was totally staff just slightly different proportions. They really do seem to come in all shapes and sizes these days so I really wouldn't worry. He's gorgeous.

I think all staff owners are told at least once there dog has pit in it. A guy recently asked me if Lula had pit in her. My Lula does not have pit in her and is not big for a staff. It just people talking out of there arse as usual

Cant see any sign of pit, both gorgeous. As has been said staffies come in all different sizes, Katy is very leggy & I have been asked if she's a boxer or jrt, people haven't got a clue

Aw he is gorgeous! Looks just like my parents Staff Domino when he was that age! He was also very leggy and tall up until about 3 when he filled out! They were always convinced he was cross something but now he has filled out he is just big for the breed!

That is a Staff I would say.Sure I have had people come up to me in the street and ask is my Boxer a pit bull.

Poppy is 14 weeks old and people say that to me look at that pinball. It's just people's stupidity that pup is a staffy

It's a pup, cute one at that. puppies dont grow like humans, one week its legs next head or feet... they seem to morph into so many forms before everything catches up with each other making them look like all sorts.
And practically everyone who says it's a pit will have no idea what one looks like. just ask them to describe to you what the difference is between a staffy and a pitt and watch them trip over there own words   

so so gorgeous and looks similar to my peppa shes also big girl i promise to post pics this week its about time..who cares what idiots say just make sure hes well behaved.

Who said he was a pit ? Stevie wonder  , as has already been said our Staffords come in all, shapes , sizes and colours, and as for the loose skin around the neck , my Max still has loose skin around his and he's two and a half.    he's a beaut u should be proud

I know how you feel. We've had the same thing said to us about Zara. Like everyone says they all come in all shapes and sizes.... Just like us humans

Aaaw those photos, he is adorable! Make the most of it before he grows up, it happens so fast! And Bane went through the pinching all the underwear and socks phase! We still find the odd sock tucked away in his bed every now and again

Thanxs mate hes a joy to be with    just got in was out with him for 3 hours in park he loved it he met loadsa dogs kids different people rabbits chickens model aeroplanes flyin lol motorbikes hopefully he be bulletproof wen he gets older. Lol had a little do with a couple tho lol sure they were smackheads. They were walkin past an usual awww hes so cute so i say Tyson say hello. he waddles over they stroking him then he jumped up both paws on him so i sed don't mind mate but if he jumps up plz stop stroking him till he sits then u can stroke him again he goes to work with me an i have a lot of kids in an out don't want him getting into that habit. I got if u don't want people to stroke ur dog don't bring him out keep him locked up like rest of em blah blah blah lmao wth hes my dog if u don't like it f off! Then on plus side got bk to shop hes saat with his tail goin ten to dozen an 1 of my customers got his hand in his mouth lol hes lickin away, the customer is 1 and half just toddling :-) omg was sooo cute wish i could av shared a pic with u guys

I am yet to come across someone like this or someone who is rude towards Bane so that will be an interesting time
We struggle getting strangers to listen though when we tell them about trying to stop him jumping. They always just fuss anyway and now we are having a hard time trying to get him to stay calm with 4 feet on the ground when meeting people! Children are a nightmare...they are his size so they are fair game to knock down and lick to death!

Meg was gangly as a pup, she has papers and is KC registered. She is more slender and doesn't have a massive head either. I've seen loads of Staffies and they do vary in shape and size. Just because he is not stout and chunky does not mean he is a pitbull. I wouldn't worry about it if I were you. looks like the ill-informed brigade are out in force around your area, mate.
