Maggie Goes Agility! Empty Maggie Goes Agility!

Post by Maggie1 Sat May 10 2014, 23:56

We took Maggie to a taster  agility tonight.  She was 2 when we got her and was unsocialised was terrified of people and other dogs and loud noises  and has no training at all.  I took  her to training classes.  But stopped going because no mater what work I did with her out of the class and the improvements she made the instructor  would  never trust her or let me let her off the lead so I stopped taking her.

She is still reactive with dogs on the lead.  But is fine off the lead as long as she has her toy.   So we though we would take and see how she went.

She was fab.  Stood next the other dogs all on leads  no problem, she only had 2 grumbles all night.  Did her jumps no problem.   She was even allowed off her lead most of the time and  the tunnel and the a frame.  I am very proud of her.  If only her old instructor could see her  Big Grin

I didn't get any good pictures unfortunately so you'll have to watch the video below (Click on the picture). She had to go and see her Dad on the way round!

Brilliant video.. She did so well. Your comment about the off lead works with my Flo like a treat though to be fair to Flo, she has relaxed as we have.

Loved the Dad bits... Made me smile  Big Grin

Fantastic welcome to the world of agility, it has worked wonders for Ledgers socialization, recall and general focus on me be warned they are blummin' quick once they get going and Ledger picked it up so much quicker than I got the hang of facing the right direction and holding out the correct arm as they go for the jumps etc

Thanks for all the nice comments  Smile

Maggie was definitely a lot better than me. Trying the organise you arms whist keeping any eye on your dog and not walking into the jumps. I think I knocked more fences down walking into them than Maggie did jumping them  Big Grin

Awww that's fab! We took our boy to puppy classes when he was 18 weeks old and the trainer there was the same. Because he was a staffie he was the only one not allowed off lead so we only attended 3 classes and jacked in.
